Learn how to get sponsored to play Fortnite after new leak

Fortnite Island Creator, a hint at the new sponsorship program.

Fortnite is getting ready to follow in the footsteps of companies like YouTube and Twitch by allowing players to become sponsored in-game.

With Chapter 5 Season 4 set to begin shortly, Fortnite has never been more popular. Over a million people play the battle royale daily, and more creators are joining the fray in creating islands or promoting deals. However, Epic Games is reportedly getting ready to take their collaborations with content creators to the next level.

Here’s what’s known so far about the Fortnite sponsorship program.

What will Fortnite sponsorship look like?

Fortnite leakers on X have revealed details about what the future sponsorship program will look like, and it may seem familiar to some.

According to @ShiinaBR and @Krowe_moh on X, Fortnite’s sponsored player system may follow a similar model to YouTube’s creator sponsorship. Key features so far include the following.

  • Creators being able to set their own budget
  • Additional tools for expenditure tracking
  • A cost per mille system, with creators earning a certain percentage of money from ad views

There will probably be more ads following the launch of Fortnite’s sponsorship program. Most viewers and content creators know YouTube for its CPM system and ad prevalence. Though this isn’t a definite consequence, ads may be worth it to provide more support to island builders and other types of Fortnite influencers.

How to get sponsored in Fortnite

No information is known currently about how to get sponsored in Fortnite, though Epic Games’ Support-A-Creator and Island Creator programs could provide some clues.

Support-A-Creator pitches itself as a Fortnite affiliate program. Essentially, social media content creators and streamers receive creator codes to share with supporters. When those supporters spend either vbucks or real dollars, the creator in question earns a small sum. Prospective applicants must have over 1,000 followers on one account on YouTube, Twitch, VK, or X.

In comparison, Island Creators publish and earn revenue based on their designed islands and engagement. While no social media following is required, players must spend time in seven out of thirty days editing islands and spend at least $73 in real-world currency over a 90-day period.

Epic Games could include requirements from past creator programs for the new Fortnite sponsorship program or make entirely new ones. Either way, sponsorship helps both creators earn a living and Fortnite to get even more engagement.
