Learn how good you are at Valorant with 2024’s rank distribution

Valorant Omen and Outlaw

With the addition of new agents, maps, and weapons, Valorant has become more competitive than ever, leading to the rank distribution shifting heavily in 2024.

Valorant has nine ranks each divided into three divisions. That means players must climb through a total of 27 levels to reach the top rank in Valorant, which is radiant. However, the grind to radiant is anything but easy. Each rank in Valorant presents a unique challenge. While ascendant is littered with boosted accounts, silver is often described as Elo hell by Valorant players.

For those curious about just how crowded each Valorant rank is, here’s a breakdown by percentage.

The Valorant rank distribution highlights the difficulty of progressing beyond ascendant. However, several factors contribute to the congestion in silver divisions, explaining the notable saturation in those ranks.

Valorant players find success in the initial few ranks like iron, bronze, and gold, but the funnel gets clogged at silver. This is the rank that’s popularly known as the Elo hell. Due to high competition and population, getting out of silver can take weeks, sometimes months. However, the population decreases right after silver, which means not everyone makes the cut. Most players either give up or stay stuck for a long time.

One primary reason for the oversaturation is that most players transitioning from other games start at the silver rank as their initial placement. Also, silver accounts often owned by players with higher ranks. These accounts are solely used for playing with lower-ranked friends. The smurfing phenomenon also contributes to silver being the most populous rank in Valorant.

After silver, gold has the most players, followed by bronze. Radiant, on the other hand, houses only 0.026% of players, according to data on Valorant rank distribution in August 2024.
