League of Legends blockbuster animated show Arcane wins three Emmy Juried Awards

  • Arcane wins three (3) jury-voted Emmy awards in animation categories for Outstanding Individual Achievements in Animation
  • Arcane is still in the race for the main Emmy event in September with two nominations

Hit animated show Arcane, based on the League of Legends universe, took home three Emmy Awards in juried animation categories. The show that premiered in September last year on Netflix reached global success among the fans and is now recognized by the Television Academy.

The Academy announced the winners of the 74th Emmy Juried awards, with Arcane winning three awards for Outstanding Individual Achievements in Animation:

  • Julien Georgel, Art Direction — Arcane, Episode #4 “Happy Progress Day!”
  • Anne-Laure To, Color Script Artist — Arcane, Episode #7 “The Boy Savior”
  • Bruno Couchinho, Background Designer — Arcane, Episode 6 “When These Walls Come Tumbling Down”

Arcane pile on awards with the best yet to come

The Academy’s jury gives out Emmys Juried awards through open discussion and without nominations. All winners are employees of Fortiche Production, a French animation studio that cooperates with Riot Games to bring Arcane to life.

Before the Emmys, Arcane became the most awarded TV series of the year by winning nine Annie Awards. The series crushed the Netflix charts and reached the Top 10 in 52 countries worldwide.

Riot Games recently released a behind-the-scenes documentary series, “Bridging the Rift,” showing the making of Arcane. It brought fans insight into the project and their partnership with Fortiche Productions.

Arcane is still in the race for the main Emmy awards, which will take place in September. The show received nominations for “Outstanding Sound Editing For a Comedy or Drama Series and Animation,” and the main prize “Outstanding Animated Program.”

It is fantastic for LoL fans and for Riot Games to see Arcane get mainstream recognition as they patiently wait for Arcane Season two, which is expected to launch next year or early 2024.
