League of Legends made changes in Patch 14.10 that gave massive buffs to the ADC role, and the bot lane is finally enjoyable to play again.
It’s been a long time since the attack damage carry role in League of Legends was fun to play. Metas and patches rarely favored the role over the last several years. Playing bot lane these past patches, especially since the beginning of Season 14, was like signing up to have a bad game. However, item changes to ADC items in particular went far in terms of balancing the role. What was an attempt to make solid build paths has boosted ADC early games so that they aren’t falling off the second laning phase ends. These changes were aimed at helping ADCs, and the role has finally stabilized because of it. However, the changes aren’t overpowered, which is a good thing.
Reception among ADC players remains positive, but other roles may be confused as to why the position deserved as many buffs as it got.
ADCs in League of Legends are in the best place they have been in quite some time. Item changes have made it so that everything does what it should just a little bit better than before. Most of the ADC items are valuable, but there’s not an item so broken that it’s an automatic build.
Champions have always had items they do better with, but a broader pool gives players a bit more variety. This was always the concept and ideal for any League of Legends role, but it’s been missing from bot lane for a long time. These new changes have ushered in a time where playing ADC doesn’t mean hoping to get hyper-fed early just to cling to the rest of the team later in the game. Things like lane swapping aren’t as much of a problem for the bot lane to handle.
This doesn’t mean that things are perfect. There are always going to be problems with off-role picks being incredibly difficult to play against. However, it’s a good start. The changes didn’t make the role busted either. This hopefully means that future patches don’t revert some of the changes or buff other roles too much to counter.
With a few exceptions, League of Legends ADC buffs have made the game feel more stable as a whole. This is the perfect time for it with Worlds 2024 coming up in a few months. Hopefully Riot doesn’t nerf ADCs back down when the time comes.
