Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski is set to to leave Team Falcons, and he has now opened up on his final weeks with the team, according to comments from both kysxan and Nikola âNiKoâ KovaÄ.
The competitive scene of Counter-Strike 2 is one of the most volatile esports scenes, where team rosters change regularly to make sure they are up for the always-changing meta and increasing competition.
However, the departure of kyxsan showed a different side of the picture, where thereâs camaraderie despite knowing their unpredictable nature.
Kyxsanâs tenure with Team Falcons had a lot of expectations on its shoulder, but ultimately it failed to deliver on the server. Despite the struggle to secure titles, the in-game leader (IGL) emphasized that the social fabric of the team remained intact.
In a recent vlog on Nikoâs YouTube channel, Kyxsan described the Falcons environment as “probably the team with the best atmosphere Iâve ever been part of”. Kyxsan noted that while fans only see the scoreboard, the team remained strongly gelled and supported each other during the stressful seasons.
“We have a really good time as a team outside of the game,” Kyxsan stated. “I think we were enjoying it even though inside the server, we didn’t achieve what we wanted. But it was a really good experience for me that I gained and that I can probably use in the future.”
According to NiKo, Kyxsan was made aware of his impending exit shortly before the beginning of IEM Rio. Usually, timelines like these are called âdead man walkingâ rosters, where teams play together while knowing that one or more of their teammates will be leaving soon. This takes a heavy toll on team morale.
NiKo expressed significant respect for how Kyxsan handled the situation, noting that the news was understandably upsetting for the Macedonian player.
Despite the personal setback, the team attempted to rally for a âgo out with a bangâ performance in Brazil, drawing inspiration from previous instances where rosters found success just before a split, such as Heroicâs run with degster in Bucharest.
While Kyxsan expressed sadness at his inability to help the organization reach its “big dreams and hopes,” he remains optimistic about the core he left behind. His departure will be the end of a specific developmental chapter for Falcons, as the organization continues searching for and building a roster capable of challenging the world’s elite.
