This was a big week in Fortnite, with the release of a new season and massive competitive announcement. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from this week in Fortnite.
Season 7 is here
Have you been living under a rock? Season 7 is here ya dingus!
Let’s be honest, the last Fortnite season was… meh. Epic seems to do stuff like this all the time. They turn the dial too far in one direction for a couple of seasons before bringing it back to the Fortnite that we all love.
There’s a heap of new stuff in the season; UFOs, new weapons, returning weapons, a revamp to the sub-par crafting system, and a lot more. Most importantly, though, Fortnite feels like Fortnite again – and that’s the best part of the new season.

$3 million FNCS All-Star Showdown
The new competitive Fortnite season hasn’t started just yet, but it’s going to kick off with a bang. Epic have partnered with BLAST to bring the FNCS All-Star Showdown to Fortnite.
This is a solo tournament that will feature some of the biggest names in the competitive scene. Top performers from each region were all invited, with ten open slots up for grabs.
Solo tournaments are never as interesting as team-based FNCS competitions. There’s too much action to watch in solos, but I’ve always preferred invitational Fortnite tournaments, so this one will be pretty fun to watch.
The main event begins on June 23 with the skills competition, before the Solo Championship on June 26.

Harry Kane & Marco Reus join the Icon Series
In cosmetics news, Harry Kane and Marco Reus will join Neymar Jr in the Fortnite Icon Series.
Unlike Neymar Jr, you’ll need to purchase these skins from the Fortnite Item Shop. According to a recent announcement, the skins will be available today, June 11.
England National Team Captain @HKane is joining the Icon Series squad and his football celebration is coming with it!

Those were the biggest news stories of the week, with most coverage dedicated to Fortnite Season 7.
If you’ve been out of Fortnite for a season or two, I suggest coming back to the game for Season 7. It’s another return to form for Fortnite. The Pump is back and better than it was, crafting isn’t necessary anymore, and the new weapons and UFOs are fun, classic Fortnite additions.
I’ll see you on the island.
