The LEC Spring Split feels like the big names have lost their strength. G2 Esports and Movistar KOI are both middle of the pack for the time being, with Vitality, NAVI, and even GIANTX being ahead of them.
KC is the one top team that did not fall. In the Spring Split, they’re 3-0. Karmine Corp has only played that few matches since they’ll participate in both roadshow weekends, for three matches each.
Five of their seven matches were stomps. None of their maps against Team Heretics and SK Gaming reached 30 minutes. Their one close match was against Vitality. In this series, each team had one clean game, and KC took the third map in 54 minutes.
No other team managed to beat Team Vitality, out of the seven that tried. For instance, NAVI fell to them. VIT stomped the first game, and Natus Vincere came out swinging in game 2 before throwing and losing it as well.
This is precisely the worry point for them. NAVI is not the cleanest team to close out games. Against opponents ranked lower than them, they can cruise just fine, but they falter when challenged.
Moreover, their laning prowess is also below that of the best teams. Their limits got exposed against both VIT and GX.
The problem is that KC has good laners paired with an excellent synchronization. When they fall behind, they buy themselves a second chance in the mid-game. Karmine’s mid and late-game are a threat to even a G2 in good shape. With that, Natus Vincere has their work cut out for them.
