Kai Cenat and Major Max beef over Mafiathon 2 prank

Kai Cenat and Major Max controversy

YouTube magician Major Max pulled a controversial stunt on Kai Cenat during Mafiathon 2, sparking a feud.

Kai Cenat is soaring high on the success of his ongoing Mafiathon 2 event. The streamer recently reclaimed his throne and beat Ironmouse’s Twitch record within 11 days. The content creator took the subathon to new heights with several celebrity guests over the past month.

These guests included Snoop Dogg, John Cena, and an upcoming collaboration with Kevin Hart. Despite the positivity, the Mafiathon 2 event still attracted drama. From allegations of a giveaway scam to hosting convicted domestic abuser Chris Brown, Cenat has come under fire throughout the event. The most recent controversy may be the biggest yet.

What happened between Kai Cenat and Major Max?

Major Max pranked Kai Cenat and his crew by pretending to be hanged during Mafiathon 2.

Major Max, a YouTube magician, pulled a prank involving an escape attempt from a noose. The prank made it look like Kai Cenat accidentally hanged him. In a stream, Kai Cenat held onto a rope while Major Max had his neck in a noose. Kai pulls the rope, after which Major Max struggles against it, several feet off the ground.

On the surface, it looked like the stunt failed horrifically. The sight disturbed audiences on set and online, who were unsure whether the incident was real. Kai Cenat immediately told his cameraman to stop shooting the incident.

The magician was quickly pulled down from the ropes before any real harm was done. The visibly panicked Twitch streamer was heard saying he didn’t want to get banned. It was later disclosed that the magician left without an explanation.

Later in the stream, Kai and his team managed to stop a member of Major Max’s team and brought him live to demand an explanation. The streamer told him he wouldn’t be allowed to leave before explaining to everyone what just happened.

After this incident, many viewers started asking Twitch to ban the streamer. Félix “xQc” Lengyel agreed with that sentiment, stating this could inspire more dangerous on-stream stunts in the future. The harshest critics contacted Nike and demanded they take action against the streamer for the stunt. Some social media users claim that the Nike account unfollowed Kai Cenat after the hanging incident. The allegations remain unconfirmed as of this writing.

Major Max reveals his reasons for the controversial prank

The magician Major Max explained it was all an elaborate prank in a YouTube video.

Major Max claimed that everything that happened was according to his plan. He explained that Kai Cenat had been challenging him since the day they met. The magician said Kai wanted to see him fail. The prank was Max’s attempt to give the streamer exactly what he wanted.

The magician accepts responsibility for the prank in his video, though many still criticize his actions. With how intense such depictions of death can be, faked or otherwise, many viewers felt it went too far. Others even believe that Major Max and Kai Cenat manufactured the stunt to draw more viewers to Mafiathon 2.  Viewers will have to wait and see if Twitch takes action against Kai Cenat.
