Kaela teases new model to celebrate 3rd anniversary

Kaela Kovalskia of Hololive Indonesia hs teased fans with a grand redebut, complete with a new model and expanded lore.

Hololive Indonesia was one of the company’s first forays into an international market. Beginning life as “AREA 15,” the branch soon bloomed into nine members, with Kaela joining in the 3rd generation. Hololive Indonesia has impressively avoided any graduations since its original inception, cultivating a loyal fandom.

Kaela quickly captured the hearts of fans with her impressive gaming skills and famously lengthy streams. As far as average stream time goes, very few can match Kaela, much to the appreciation of fans and holomates alike.  Her dry sense of humor also made her a great contrast to her more “hyperactive” genmates Vestia Zeta and Kobo Kanaeru.

As she approaches her 3rd anniversary, Kaela announces a special gift for her fans in the form of a new model and more besides.

Kaela will return with new model, expanded lore

The dry-witted blacksmith Kaela Kovalskia will soon replace her base model with a brand-new design. Many Hololive talents eventually update their models to be more in line with the company’s current technology. Some viewers may not even realize that Hololive’s parent company, COVER Corp, started life as a tech company. With its resources, Hololive members frequently get new designs and models.

These updated models would sometimes become the new default for certain talents. As part of her official transition into Hololive English, IRyS redebuted with a new model dubbed “Hope 2.0.”  The updated model had more vibrant colors, smoother animations, and greater details than the original.

Kaela’s case differs in that she will reportedly have a new “default” model.  Many fans have noted that Kaela hasn’t used her original Live2D model in over a year. When compared to her newer models, it’s easy to see why. Although fans love the design, the rigging and animation are noticeably stiffer than those of more modern models.

During a just chatting stream, Kaela officially shared a teaser video for the new outfit. The silhouette seemed close to her original design, yet the small glimpses of motion reflected a better animated model.  According to some fans and followers, Kaela had been teasing big changes for her anniversary stream since late 2024.

Kaela had joked about some of the jests people made about her original model.  Although directly inspired by a mythical Indonesian creature called the “barong”, most people mistake her for a penguin instead. While she reminds people of the actual inspiration, she often leans into the memes through her stream titles. Her new model may make the barong influence much clearer than before.

When will Kaela get her new 3rd anniversary model?

Kaela will debut her new model on March 26, 2025. This new model will undoubtedly feel like a full-circle moment for fans and Kaela.  Her original lore, that of an unfulfilled blacksmith in search of happiness by joining an idol group, mirrors some aspects of her real life.

In addition to a new model, her anniversary stream will expand on her lore and potentially showcase a new background room. Like with other new model debuts, Kaela will likely browse fan expectations and art to share with her viewers during her new model debut stream.
