K9Kuro has a new model, come see it

Vtuber K9Kuro

To celebrate his first anniversary, the vtuber K9Kuro announced that he will debut a new model and lore for his fans.

Kuro Kurenai, or as he is better known K9Kuro, is an English vtuber affiliated with popular agency VShojo. K9Kuro was the 14th vtuber to debut with VShojo in 2023 and the first male member of the agency. He has over 246,000 subscribers on YouTube and 227,000 on Twitch, making him one of the most popular male vtubers. The vtuber is known for his unique style of streaming, which fans think is less like a vtuber and more like a normal streamer.

In February 2024, the vtuber did a face reveal, and in September 2024, K9Kuro announced that he would debut a new model and lore for his first anniversary.

K9Kuro’s new pirate-themed model

The vtuber K9Kuro debuted his new pirate model in a live stream on YouTube and Twitch on October 1, 2024.

K9Kuro’s new model is a pirate from another universe who dresses up like Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. During the stream, when K9Kuro first appeared, some fans even compared the new model to the vtuber Kaizoku Kaito.

Kuro’s new model has three different styles. He appears with a pirate hat, with a pirate hat and eye patch, or without either the pirate hat and eye patch. The general consensus of the fans is that the new model is good and they want to see it in normal content.

K9Kuro’s new lore

K9Kuro debuted new lore in addition to a new model as a celebration for his first anniversary as a vtuber.

Fans of the vtuber will likely be familiar with Michi and Jared, two known ongoing characters in Kuro’s lore. The new lore video starts with Michi holding a weird device. She accidentally presses the trigger, and a beam of light hits K9Kuro, prompting him to disappear. In his place, another person dressed as a pirate appears and introduces himself as Kuro Kurenai.

The man states he is the coolest pirate in all the seven seas and is trying to find the ultimate treasure. He elaborates that he found a historic book at a friend’s house that mentions treasure left by Gold Roger. Kuro explains that he left the house, traveled the seas, and committed crimes.

He was arrested and sentenced to death by drowning. However, at that exact time a “magical beam of light” hit him and he appeared here. This is when Michi understands that the gun transported the real K9Kuro to an alternate universe and this new Kuro appeared in his place.

Michi asks the new K9Kuro to make content for VShojo, but he says he doesn’t want to and wants to find the treasure. However, Michi tells him the book he is following is Eiichiro Oda’s manga One Piece and everything he’s doing is useless.

Kuro laughs as he thinks she is joking and says he has no time. However, Michi tells him the treasure is in VShojo so he agrees to stream in place of the real K9Kuro. Pirate Kuro asks Michi when the treasure will appear and she responds that it will appear once he hits a total streaming quota. Furthermore, Michi tells K9Kuro that if anyone asks about his new model, he should say he is cosplaying.
