JDG is currently suffering from the curse that affects all First Stand participants (besides Bilibili Gaming’s top laner). Coming back home, they feel like a shadow of their former self.
Yet while underperforming, JDG retains the same clear-cut identity. This team beats all others in teamfights, while several aspects of their macro are lacking. JDG lost to the top three, but still beat out Anyone’s Legend.
As for Invictus Gaming, they came out swinging. Clean wins against Top Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas.CN, and Team WE. Since then though, it’s been a dry spell.
IG’s rematch against TES made it clear that their initial win was due to Top Esports only too recently forming their roster. Against BLG, they didn’t stand a chance either, and they even lost to Weibo Gaming.
Invictus Gaming is still as explosive as they were before the loss of their star top, mid, and bot laners. However, that was already shaky then and it’s even more so with these new players.
This team still wants to make plays, and that will probably be enough to catch JD Gaming off guard. JDG has a history of falling for this; however, they have just as much of a history of coming back through better fights no matter the deficit.
Because of that, IG will likely manage to take one game off of JDG, but their opponent should take the series home.
