JDG have had a wild story in the LPL Split 1. After a modest start, their form crumbled during the rest of the regular season. Heading into the playoffs, their performance against Top Esports was concerning, despite the win. Then, the story completely turned around.
JD Gaming beat tournament favorites Anyone’s Legend, went to five games against the other favorite in BLG, and finally took out Weibo Gaming 3-0 in the lower bracket finals. Suffice to say, the JDG that’s going to face BLG isn’t the one that we saw even last week. The team have improved drastically match after match and will be a menace at First Stand.
This match has an easy dynamic to follow. Bilibili Gaming have the strongest laners in the LPL with carries in each role. Thanks to this, they get early leads very easily. However, their teamfighting is subpar.
Against them, JDG have become the strongest teamfighting team in the LPL. Considering the strengths of the region, that means they have the strongest team fights in the world. Against BLG, this is their biggest advantage and which is how they won games in their previous encounter. JDG is behind in the other areas, notably laning and macro.
Like they successfully did in game 5 of the upper finals, BLG will want to press their lead while avoiding teamfights. On the other hand, JDG’s win condition will be to stall out the game until they can get fights. Alternatively, they can create chaos in the early game and make skirmishes happen as often as possible, to move away from standard laning.
