One of the most frequently asked questions about Valorant is, “Is Valorant crossplay?” After all, hundreds of thousands of players are engaged every day, so people may want to play with their friends who use another gaming platform. Well, we’re here to answer that question!
When Valorant was first released in 2020, the game was only available on PC. However, Riot Games has expanded the title and made it available on more platforms. Today, you can play Valorant on:
Most players load into Valorant on a PC, but there’s still a large number of them on consoles. However, you can only play Valorant on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
In August 2025, Riot released Valorant on mobile in China. Sometime in early 2026 (hopefully) Valorant mobile is expected to be released globally.
The short answer to this question is yes, but partially.
Valorant does not support crossplay between PC and console. This means PC players cannot queue into matches with console players, and console players cannot join PC lobbies, either. These platforms have their own matchmaking environments to prevent unfair advantages on either side. Even if you were to use Valorant pro settings (that pro players use), you’d still be at a disadvantage on console as opposed to PC.
However, Valorant does support crossplay between consoles. So, people playing on PlayStation can play with those who are on Xbox. Pairing up with your friend playing on a different console than yours is, therefore, possible.
To summarize:
If you play Valorant on a PC, and your friends are on PlayStation or Xbox, you cannot play together.
Yes, Valorant does support cross-progression. This means you can use the same Riot Games account on your PC and console, and your progress carries over.
Most of your progress carries over between the platforms automatically, including:
So, if you play Valorant on both platforms, you don’t need to make a new account or spend any additional money.
However, there is one very important thing to note – competitive ranks and matchmaking rating do not carry over between PC and console. Your ranked progression between the platforms is completely separate.

Linking your account from PC to console is very easy. The only thing you need to do is to sign in using the same Riot Games account on the platform you are trying to link.
To enable cross-progression, follow the steps below:
Launch Valorant on your console.
Sign in with the same Riot Games account you use on PC.
Link your PlayStation Network or Xbox account to Riot.
Complete the login process.
Once you complete the account linking, your account progression will sync automatically. You will notice that all of your unlocked agents, account levels, and weapon skins will be available on console.
The main reason behind Riot Games’ reluctance to add crossplay in Valorant is due to competitive fairness.
The nature of Valorant requires players to be very precise. You need to hit headshots to kill opponents quickly, and you also need to use agent abilities, which might include very specific lineups for utility like Shock Darts or other smokes.

Players using a PC have a mouse and keyboard to issue these actions. Aiming with a mouse allows the player to be very accurate and precise. Moving with a keyboard allows for responsive movement, especially if they’re doing actions like jump spotting or jiggle peeking.
On the other hand, console players have to use a controller to match all of these actions. Aiming at enemies can be much harder, even with aim assist for console players and the best Valorant agents on console at your disposal. On top of that, moving around with the joystick won’t feel as smooth as with a keyboard.
Aside from gameplay, there are also issues with Valorant ranks across platforms. Players who are Ascendant on PC are different from Ascendant players on console; even though they are playing the same game, the difference in input devices makes it hard to create a balanced matchup between two teams.
So, there are simply too many reasons why Valorant crossplay wouldn’t work. These reasons are why all professional players competing in Valorant tournaments use a mouse and keyboard, and nobody uses a controller.
At the moment, Riot Games has not made any plans to add full crossplay compatibility, matching PC and console players. And if we were to give our own opinion, we believe this will never happen due to the reasons we discussed above. The advantage PC players have would be too great for console players to handle, even if Valorant made aim assist for console players better.
