Houshou Marine is one of the biggest vtubers in the world. But has she appeared in more than just YouTube videos? Some fans have wondered if Houshou Marine has an anime.

Houshou Marine is currently the largest female vtuber in Japan with over 4 million subscribers on YouTube. She debuted as the third generation of Hololive vtubers known as Hololive Fantasy. She gained attention for her interesting personality, including cosplaying as a pirate and obsessing over treasure hunting. She apparently just does this vtuber stuff to save money towards buying a pirate ship. Her Hololive profile describes her as “sensual” and claims she “seduces people like a succubus.” That’s clearly the case since she was demonetized in March of 2020 for “sexual content.”

Luckily, this hasn’t stopped her from continuing to rapidly grow her platform and create different types of content.

Is there a Houshou Marine anime?

While there isn’t a full Houshou Marine anime, the vtuber does have multiple animated shorts.

In 2022, Houshou Marine debuted an anime music video for her song “Marine Set Sail!!” In the music video, Houshou Marine finally gets a ship of her own. Similar to popular anime One Piece, the music video shows her with her Hololive crew going on adventures, fighting dangerous challengers, and even appearing in a beach episode.

Of course, Houshou Marine would have a beach episode. While Houshou Marine has not been in a full-length anime, this music video clearly follows how an anime season would go. At the time, fans wrote that they’d definitely watch this if it were a series and felt it was very similar to an anime opening.

After the first music video reached 6.2 million views, Houshou Marine revealed a second anime music video called “Dead Ma’am’s Chest.” The song has composition by Toby Fox, known for making video game music and developing Undertale. The highly dark and stylized music video has another anime-feeling sound and features Houshou Marine taking on dark foes on an even larger ship.

“Dead Ma’am’s Chest” features a very extensive fight scene between Houshou Marine and another sexy female pirate. After beating her, it appears that the vtuber has gone crazy with greed and power. She is seen taking in all of her treasures and laughing maniacally. But this isn’t enough for her to forget her demons.

The anime music video has 3.8 million views after just 10 days, showing how much Houshou Marine has grown and how badly her fans want an anime series based on her pirate escapades.
