Is ex-Hololive vtuber Tsukumo Sana back as Namie?

Namie Tsukumo Sana

The independent vtuber Namie has started to stream again after a long time and fans are questioning whether she is the ex-Hololive virtual YouTuber Tsukumo Sana.

Tsukumo Sana is an ex-Hololive vtuber who debuted in 2021. She was part of the second wave of the agency’s English virtual YouTubers and started her career alongside other popular vtubers like Ouro Kronii. However, in 2022, Tsukumo Sana became Hololive’s first English vtuber to graduate. The vtuber collaborated with several other content creators such as Hololive’s former technical genius Amelia Watson before her graduation, but there has been no news about her since then. That might change as fans suspect an independent vtuber who has returned to streaming is Tsukumo Sana.

The independent vtuber Namie has returned to streaming after a long break and many fans suspect she is the ex-Hololive vtuber Tsukumo Sana.

Is Namie the return of Tsukumo Sana?

Namie is likely the new persona of Tsukumo Sana, but there is no official confirmation.

Namie hasn’t directly stated that she is Tsukumo Sana, but fans have had suspicions for a long time regarding her being the ex-Hololive streamer. The vtuber Namie surprised fans by starting to stream again after more than a year.

Her return coincides with the debut of three other ex-Hololive talents. While Hololive has seen several vtubers graduate from the agency to return as independent virtual YouTubers, fans feel the timing of these four is interesting.

The list includes Amelia Watson who returned as Dooby, Minato Aqua who returned as Yuki Sakuna, and Yozora Mel who returned as Hanamiya Rica.  All four vtubers including Namie debuted or returned to streaming in the same week.

Fans claim this may not have been a coincidence since they were part of Hololive in the past. However, there is no concrete evidence to back this suspicion of viewers and none of the vtubers have admitted to being their ex-Hololive talents.

Some of them have dropped hints that their followers can pick up on to understand that they are secretly admitting to their real identity. However, it is common for vtuber to not share their identity after they graduate and go independent.

There are various reasons for talents leaving an agency and returning as independent vtubers. However, the most common one is freedom from management. Independent vtubers don’t need permission and can stream the content of their liking and according to their schedule.

As Tsukumo Sana’s new chapter unfolds, revisit the roots of vtubing by exploring who the first vtuber was in history.
