Ironmouse is getting blackmailed over VODs, here’s how

vtuber ironmouse

Ironmouse shared that YouTube is deleting her VODs channel, and fans wonder if she can appeal the termination.

Ironmouse is a popular streamer and vtuber who has been making content since 2017. She was an independent vtuber, but in 2020 she became a founding member of the vtuber group VShojo. The streamer has more than 2 million followers on Twitch. She is also the most followed English vtuber on the streaming platform.

Ironmouse went live on Twitch to announce that YouTube might delete her VODs channel. This has fans worried about whether she will appeal the deletion or whether her channel will be lost forever.

Why is Ironmouse’s VODs YouTube channel in danger?

Ironmouse claimed someone reported her VODs channel on YouTube for copyright infringement and she received 3 simultaneous strikes, causing her channel to face deletion.

In addition to being a huge content creator in her own right, Ironmouse’s VODs channel has around 100 thousand subscribers. With hours worth of content and multiple fans who regularly tune into every video, losing this channel would be a huge deal for the creator.

Ironmouse can appeal the deletion. However, she will have to reveal her identity to the claimant and she doesn’t want to do that. Ironmouse further stated that she tried to communicate using VShojo but the claimant hasn’t responded.

Ironmouse explained that while the strikes were wrong, she couldn’t reveal her registered address and personal information to the claimant. This is part of YouTube’s appeal process for channel terminations. Creators who want to appeal a copyright strike must reveal their personal information to the other party, which has raised controversy in several unrelated situations.

The issue Ironmouse is facing raises a huge question about YouTube’s appeal process. If someone can’t respond due to wanting to conceal their identity, then they won’t be able to appeal the termination. This can cause wrongdoers to conduct their acts and the victims to lose their anonymity.

Furthermore, the streamer is currently in a month-long subathon. The timing of this termination has aligned with it to cause the most damage to both the channel and the streamer. The perpetrators seem to have done this intentionally at a time when the streamer will be forced to reveal her identity or lose her channel.
