Drillas are the biggest underdog story of the CS2 Shanghai Major, a team everyone counted out. Now, ohnePixel’s squad is just one game away from qualifying, and fans have questions about Drillas’ potential major sticker if they qualify.
When Valve announced new RMR rules that killed open qualifiers, fans were concerned CS2 would have boring storylines. The updated rulebook prevented new teams from participating in the major unless they have a history on Valve’s leaderboards. Amid this, ohnePixel found a loophole in the regional qualifiers ruling and set up a roster for Asia qualifiers, the only region where open qualifiers are still game.
Due to the non-serious nature of his streams, fans weren’t taking this newly minted team being coached by ohnePixel seriously. Fast forward three months and Drillas have started the RMR with a big win against Lynn Vision. They’re now one best-of-three away from making it to the CS2 Shanghai Major.
While this is excellent news for ohnePixel’s community, fans have questions about the potential Drillas major sticker due to the unconventional logo.
Yes, ohnePixel has confirmed that the Drillas team logo of his face has been approved by both PGL and Valve, meaning fans will get CS2’s most unconventional and hilarious sticker if Drillas makes the Shanghai Major.
Talking to HLTV, the streamer revealed that getting his team’s logo approved was not easy. Drillas’ logo features ohnePixel giving a thumbs-up, which is a far cry from the professional logos typically seen in major tournaments. Since the team was put together at the last minute, they had to settle for a rushed logo of the streamer’s face. Now, as they’re on the verge of potentially entering the major, fans can look forward to what could be one of CS2’s most unconventional and memorable stickers.
According to ohnePixel, he had to get approval from Perfect World, Liquipedia, Valve, and HLTV. Since the team is using the same logo in RMRs, which means he was able to get it approved by all parties.
Fans are already creating potential holo stickers and are eager to buy the unique design if Drillas qualifies for the Shanghai Major. It remains to be seen how its game against The Mongolz will play out, but it’s certainly not going to be easy. Mongolz is ranked fifth in the world and have consistently performed well against major-winning teams.
