Counter-Strike fans across the globe are eating good this weekend, with some of the best CS2 teams set to take each other on across the pond in the IEM Atlanta 2026 playoffs.
Results-wise, it has been one of the most unpredictable group stages in 2026 thus far, with BetBoom and Legacy winning all their games, including victories over Vitality and Natus vincere, respectively, and advancing straight to the semi-finals.
Will the underdogs prevail on the stage, or will the CS2 betting favorites return with vengeance?

The two quarter-final team pairings could be described as a hydrogen bomb vs. a coughing baby. The paiN vs. GamerLegion game would be the latter, with both squads not predicted to make the playoffs before the event.
paiN punched their ticket to the arena by going through Group A’s upper bracket, besting FaZe Clan and FUT in their first two games, which is no small feat. Falling short against BetBoom in the upper bracket final means they begin their playoff journey in the quarter-finals.
On the other hand, GamerLegion had to battle through the lower bracket after their narrow loss to NAVI. Despite the pressure in the elimination games, GamerLegion put on a clinic in both of their lower bracket matches, beating Liquid and Astralis in convincing 2:0 fashion.
The CS2 odds have GamerLegion as the favorites for this matchup, which makes a lot of sense. The Europeans have recent playoff experience at BLAST Rivals 2026 Season 1, where they defeated Astralis on the stage.
In the case of paiN, they will probably be more nervous and jittery than their opponents, which could negatively impact their gameplay. However, an upset victory for the Brazilians is definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

The second quarter-final is where the best CS2 players join the server and butt heads for the fourth time this year. So far, NAVI have not been able to take a map off Vitality, but this could change in Atlanta.
It’s safe to say NAVI have been the second-best team in the world in 2026, but their direct head-to-head against Vitality is much worse than that of other teams. They seem to have a mental blockade, which doesn’t allow the ESL Pro League Season 23 champions to perform at their best in those crucial moments.
IEM Atlanta 2026 is the perfect time to get over that hump right before the upcoming Cologne Major. As it’s not a Grand Final, the match will be a BO3, reducing Vitality’s map pool advantage.
Also, Vitality players have been vocal about their lack of practice before this and the previous tournament. While the rest will certainly do them a lot of good in the long run, they are more susceptible to an upset at the moment.
Interestingly, some of the heavy hitters have been missing from both teams in Atlanta. Drin “makazze” Shaqiri and Shahar “flameZ” Shushan are yet to show what everyone knows they are capable of.
Depending on which one of them shows up in the quarter-final, it could be the deciding factor. In any case, this is likely to be the closest game between these two teams in 2026, with NAVI poised to take one map off Vitality at the very least.
