Just days after the revitalization of Hytale, many are predicting the voxel-based Minecraft-like adventure game could be a huge hit thanks to its modding support and newly revealed price.
On Nov. 21, Hytale devs revealed that the upcoming adventure game, which was saved from development hell at Riot Games just a few days ago, will cost just $19.99. This was revealed via Hytale’s official social media on Nov. 21.

The low price point will definitely make the game a value proposition for gamers. Hytale has been in development for 10 years, the game doesn’t show its age thanks too its pixelated sprite and voxel based graphics, which give it a timeless quality.
This low price, coupled with the promises of mod support, multiple ways to play the game (from focused adventure-mode style, to broad sandbox), and a fandom that’s waited a long time to pick up the game, could make the game a success before the general public has even got its hands on it.
Screenshots of storefronts and pre-order tiers have already begun circulating, with options for more expensive editions, including Supporter and Cursebreaker, which will give additional cosmetics like capes, hats, and other additions. But is this enough to make Hytale a success?

However, in our eyes, there are two big things that could trip Hytale up. The first is not being on Steam. Like it or not, the Steam platform is the most popular and used PC gaming platform around. One of the main reasons Hytale froze in development was the decision for the game to be rebuilt in from the ground up, outside of Java (the programming language Minecraft and Hytale initially used), so the title could appear on consoles (which often don’t support Java).
Now Hytale has been revitalized, and will likely be a PC-centric title, getting access to the big online platforms could be essential. While gamers are willing to use other platforms, major storefronts like Epic Games, Steam, GOG, and others carry the most trust. Hytale needs to
Another key point will be the update cycle. While Hytale already boasts dozens of biomes, hundreds of mobs, and boatloads of content, frequent updates will make or break the title. Minecraft has often found itself criticized for its infrequent updates, but with Hytale, Hypixel Studios have a chance to ape Mojang with quick turn around patches.
Simon “Hypixel,” the creator and owner of the revitalized Hypixel Studios has already stated he wants to release the game quickly, then polish it over time. If Hytale takes this approach to its updates as well, combined with expansive modding support, then they’ll be able to sate a video game playerbase that demands content as often as possible. And if the release date is soon, expect it to appear on a lot of seasonal wishlists.
