How to remove and reuse charms in CS2

CS2_Charm

Counter-Strike 2 now has Valorant-inspired charms for weapons that are reusable, but how can CS2 players remove charms from their weapon skins?

The Armory is the biggest CS2 update so far, marking Italy’s entry into the competitive pool and bringing in over 100 cosmetic items. All of them are claimed by using Armory credits locked behind a pass. While all items are eye-catching, the pass is headlined by weapon charms, also known as keychains. There are two charm packets, Small Arms and Missing Link. Both collections are quite expensive. For three Armory credits, players get one random charm. Thankfully, they’re not restricted to one-time use.

Instead, players can reuse them at will, but removing these charms isn’t as simple as one may think.

How to remove CS2 charms from skins

To remove CS2 charms from skins, players must purchase a charms detachment pack for $1 from the store.

Each charm detachment pack contains three keys. When removing a charm from a weapon, one key is consumed. This means one pack allows three detachments. Fortunately, players receive a free detachment pack with every charm unlocked, enabling them to attach their keychains to three different weapons.

The charm detachment pack can be purchased from the in-game shop. Here’s how to use it.

  • Start CS2 and go to weapon inventory
  • Right-click on a skin with a charm attachment
  • Select Detach charm from the list of options
  • Click on the Detach charm button at the bottom of the text box
  • The charm will return to the inventory and can be reused

Players have largely criticized paid charm detachment, likening it to sticker scraping which doesn’t incur costs. A key difference, though, is that charms remain reusable, preserving their value through multiple detachments. In addition, skins can only have one keychain compared to five stickers. In order to apply a new charm, CS2 players will have to remove whatever is on the skin first.

Although charms are reusable, paid detachment limits flexibility, preventing players from switching charms before each match. To minimize costs, attach charms carefully to your favorite weapons or C4. Note that charms can be detached and reattached an unlimited amount of times. As long as players are comfortable paying to take it off later, there’s no reason to let them sit in the inventory.
