Valorant may have weapon skins worth hundreds of dollars, but no cosmetic is as unique as the Riot Fist Bump gun buddy. But how do you get it?
The Riot Fist Bump gun buddy, usually just called the Riot gun buddy, is the rarest of all cosmetics in Valorant. It can’t be purchased, traded, or obtained in any way using money. Unlike other items, there are only a limited number of Riot gun buddies in the world, and players must earn them through hard work and patience.
Each Riot employee gets a certain number of rare gun charms that they are allowed to give away to players. However, not everyone is eligible for it.
The Riot gun buddy can only be earned by being on your best behavior in Valorant all the time. If you get queued up with a Riot employee, they may add a gun buddy to your own for demonstrating good sportsmanship.
Riot employees typically play Valorant with their own moniker. They stand out with the “Riot” tag before their names, which is a big giveaway that their teammates are in the presence of a game developer. But sometimes, they may hide their name just to enjoy a chill match in Valorant. For this reason, it’s recommended to keep a positive attitude toward other players, at least if you want a gun buddy to drop from a developer.
According to Riot, this is currently the only surefire way to get your hand on the rare charm. You can’t DM the developer or submit a ticket to request the gun buddy. Even playing a single game with a developer with good sportsmanship doesn’t mean the developers owe players the rare cosmetic. But, if they’re well-behaved and lucky, they may as well get one.
While Riot says that in-game attitude is the only factor that could get you the rare charm, a fan has claimed to earn one by being a good sport on a school career day.
According to social media user StatisticianKind4870, they had asked the Riot developer a bunch of questions during a career expo. At the end of the program, the developer asked for their Valorant ID and they had a shiny new gun buddy waiting for them when they checked their account.
This means Riot doesn’t have strict rules and regulations regarding who gets the gun buddy. As long as players are positive people on or off the server, they have a chance of getting a Riot gun buddy.
