Fans of exclusive cosmetics will soon be able to enter the Sanctum in League of Legends and possibly unlock “luxury” rewards.
Riot is cashing in on its promise to make hyper-exclusive, luxury skins available to the public. Not only are they creating new skins for fan-favorite characters like Jinx, but the team is introducing an entire system to get these brand new or otherwise rare skins and other cosmetics. Because of their exclusivity, though, some players should be expecting to spend hundreds of real dollars, which won’t be a first for League players.
Here’s how League’s new Sanctum system works and when players can try it out.
Based on trading RP for a chance to pull from a new prize pool, League players can get new rewards through the Sanctum.
Players can choose to spend 400 RP for an ancient spark, League’s new form of currency exclusive to the Sanctum. They can then spend that spark to pull from the reward pool in the Sanctum for a chance to win a reward from one of several options.
The Sanctum has three tiers of rewards, one of which includes the highly anticipated exalted skins. Unlike other cosmetics, exalted skins will only be available through the Sanctum and will not be eligible for rerolls. Riot is promoting them as the most exclusive luxury skins in League of Legends.
Another notable feature is what Riot calls the bad luck guarantee. For both the S tier and A tier, players are guaranteed to get a reward from one of the two within a certain number of pulls. Even if the player pulls before they hit the number, they will still get a reward of that tier upon the final pull. With A tier rewards, players will earn one every ten pulls. With the S tier, however, the guarantee is down to one every 80th pull with a 0.5% chance of getting a reward in that tier before. This could make Exalted skins cost as much as 32,000 RP, or approximately $250 USD.
The release date for League’s new Sanctum system and rewards is December 11, 2024, with patch 14.24.
The Sanctum is expected to be one of the last major game changes of the year, arriving on December 11. Currently confirmed S tier skins include Exalted Arcane Fractured Jinx and Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin. However, Riot is likely to announce more skins, chromas, and other rewards for the Sanctum as the patch date approaches.
Players have until December to rack up as much RP as they can in the hopes of getting new content. For those a little less exclusive in their tastes, the mythic shop will also be updated to contain more rotating skins and more cosmetics in the same patch.
