How to find the CS Source TV easter egg on Inferno

Valve loves to pay homage to Counter-Strike’s legacy through in-game easter eggs, and one such easter egg exists in the CS2 map Inferno. Here’s how to find it.

Counter-Strike boasts a legacy spanning more than two decades. What began as a Half-Life mod in 1999 has evolved into a full-fledged franchise, firmly cementing its place as a flagship title in its genre. Valve is well aware of the game’s legacy and doesn’t miss a chance to remind players as well through in-game easter eggs. Some are easy to find while others are a bit tricky.

This Inferno easter egg is one of the easy ones. As long as players know the exact spot and a secret command, they can trigger it effortlessly.

How to trigger the CS Source easter egg on Inferno

To trigger the CS Source easter egg on Inferno, players must open the map offline and then noclip to a special spot.

Valve has hidden the classic CS: Source main menu in Inferno. Previously, it used to be inside A apartments, but a lot has changed with the release of CS2 including the location of the iconic monitor. Luckily, finding it is still pretty easy.

First, enter into a private CS2 server and open the console by pressing the tilde (~) key. New players may first have to enable the console from settings. To enable the console in Counter-Strike 2, follow these steps.

  • Launch CS2 and go to the main menu
  • Click on the gear icon in the bottom left corner to open Settings
  • In the Settings menu, go to the Game tab
  • Find the option called Enable Developer Console (~) and set it to Yes
  • Press Apply to save the changes

Now, activate cheats by pasting “sv_cheats 1” into the console. Now, paste “noclip” to enter into ghost mode, also known as free roam. This way, you may enter into locked rooms that count as nonplayable areas in a competitive game. Once all of that is done, move towards Inferno B side and enter the coffins area. Spot the brown door and then slide inside the room.

Here, you’ll see a large monitor with the CS: Source main menu.

This has been changed in the new update. When CS2 was newly released, the monitor played the mixing texture screen from CS: Source, which was pretty popular among the fans for its iconic black and white chequered texture. The screen also played various sounds from the game, including iconic voice lines from old characters.

However, fans are all for the new screen, as the old one left many scratching their heads, especially those who didn’t spend half their day in CS: Source dealing with the missing texture error.
