How Gen.G broke the record for longest win streak in LoL

Gen.G League of Legends

Gen.G breaks the record for the longest series win streak in League of Legends esports, and it’s not stopping anytime soon.

Korea remains the most competitive region in League esports, and the country’s best team usually doubles as the world’s best team. The LCK is currently in the thick of its 2024 Summer Split, and one team has risen to the top of the stacked circuit. Gen.G is riding high with a 6-0 match record and a perfect game record. As a result of its latest victory over Hanwha Life Esports, the squad has also claimed one of the game’s most prestigious records. The LCK juggernaut now holds the record for the longest win streak in League of Legends esports, and it all comes down to a perfect storm favoring the Gen.G roster.

Here’s how Gen.G claimed the record and what it could mean for upcoming international events.

Gen.G team claims longest win streak in LoL history

Gen.G breaks win streak records with 24 series wins and counting

Gen.G has claimed the longest win streak in League of Legends esports with 24 series wins in a row.

The streak began in the LCK 2024 Spring Series in February 2024.  Since then,  Gen.G has become seemingly untouchable. Many fans attribute the team’s insane streak to the current crop of Gen.G pros on the main team. Kim “Kiin” Gi-in, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan and Son “Lehends” Si-woo have dominated 2024 so far.

Many fans already clamor for Gen.G’s potential for Golden Road accolades. Veteran viewers theorized the meta is perfect for Gen.G’s preferred playstyle. From tank tops to AD mids, it’s a veritable feast for Gen.G players in the professional bracket.

Gen.G Chovy

Although most people give T1 the GOAT status in terms of championship wins, Gen.G has always nipped at the team’s heels with many victories over the iconic team. Gen.G even beat longtime rival T1 earlier in 2024 during the LCK Spring Playoffs. If Gen.G can carry the momentum of their win streak into Worlds, they may boast the most dominant year in the history of LoL esports. The pressure is certainly on for the talents, but one thing’s for sure. Fans will be watching every minute of the squad’s games.
