Hoshimachi Suisei makes her Disney debut in Moana 2

Hololive just unveiled a collaboration between Hoshimachi Suisei and the hit Disney film, Moana 2.

Hoshimachi Suisei is arguably Hololive’s most popular singer. Her original song BIBBIDIBA is the first Hololive vtuber song to surpass over 100 million views on YouTube.   She even collaborated with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. There’s no denying Suisei’s popularity not just with vtuber fans, but mainstream audiences as well.

Her rise in popularity led to another surprising collaboration. Hoshimachi Suisei announced a voice role in a Disney movie, and fans are very excited. After all, it’s not every day a vtuber gets to sing for the most popular entertainment company in the world.

Hoshimachi Suisei will voice a character in Moana 2

Hololive’s Hoshimachi Suisei voiced a “character is covered in sand” for Moana 2. On December 5, 2024, Suisei informed fans of her collaboration with Disney JP. The Hololive vtuber revealed her cameo role in the Japanese dub of Moana 2. While she didn’t state which character she would be voicing, Suisei stated the character is “covered in sand.” Given the sheer amount of sand in a movie about Polynesian seafarers, fans may have to keep their ears sharp to spot her.

Suisei’s cover of the song Beyond from Moana 2 was equally as exciting for fans. In previous karaoke streams, Suisei has covered popular Disney songs such as Let It Go. Fans got hyped over her ability to hit the song’s iconic high notes. From a karaoke stream to an official Disney cover, Suisei has certainly evolved in 2024.

Hololive collabs just keep getting bigger

Hololive continues its worldwide vtuber domination. Moana 2 isn’t the first blockbuster collaboration between Hololive and Hollywood. In 2022, La+ Darkness interviewed Hollywood’s current Batman, Robert Pattinson. Those unfamiliar with vtubers were amused by Pattinson’s reactions to being interviewed by a “real” anime girl. The same could be said of Shirokami Fubuki’s interview with Morbius star Jared Leto. She even complimented Leto’s Japanese with a “Nihongo Jouzu,” a popular meme among vtuber fans who struggle with Japanese.
