One of the most popular vtubers in the scene, Sakamata Chloe, just announced her graduation from Hololive.
Sakamata Chloe debuted in the sixth generation of Hololive’s Japanese vtuber division. Dubbed Secret Society holoX, Chloe debuted alongside Hakui Koyori, Kazama Iroha, La+ Darkness, and Takane Lui. Sakamata Chloe became a fan favorite instantly and reached 500,000 subs on YouTube within a week of her debut.
This made her the fastest Hololive vtuber to reach the milestone. Even after the love she has received, Hololive has shared some unfortunate news that shocked fans. The agency announced that Sakamata Chloe is graduating and fans want to know why.
Sakamata Chloe will cease all her activities on January 26, 2025, and fan letters will be accepted until the same date.
In the official announcement, Hololive commented on Sakamata Chloe’s part in the growth of the agency and thanked her for everything. The announcement then confirmed she would cease all her channel activities. This includes streaming, social media posting, live event participation, and the release of new merchandise.
The announcement elaborated that although Sakamata Chloe will cease all her channel activities, she will remain an affiliate of the agency. It appears the vtuber is going on the same route as Hololive’s ex-technical genius Amelia Watson. The latter has also technically graduated from the agency but remains an affiliate.
On its website, Cover explained the difference between normal graduations of talents and that of Sakamata Chloe. The company stated a talent’s conclusion of streaming is also a form of graduation. This confirms that Sakamata Chloe is graduating from the agency. The door will remain open for Chloe for future collaborations, with mutual consent between the agency and talent.
Sakamata Chloe will reportedly graduate due to her health issues and different goals Live translators of Chloe during her 3rd-anniversary stream reveal she left the company because she had different goals. Chloe’s aspirations simply didn’t line up with Hololive’s goals, necessitating a split. She also adds that her medical issues, specifically her throat, factored into her graduation. Talents such as Tsukumo Sana also graduated for similar reasons.
Fans have known about these issues for some time and encouraged the vtuber to get treatment so that she can get better. More details will likely be revealed once translators clip her full explanation during the anniversary stream.
