Cover has released a statement confirming the contract termination of HoloStars talent Hizaki Gamma from Hololive.
Hizaki Gamma was regularly streaming as recently as July 2024. The talent debuted under the UPROAR!! brand of Holostars, alongside Yatogami Fuma, Utsugi Uyu, and Minase Rio. Gamma was a self-described “party animal manga artist” and even drew the origin manga for UPROAR!!. From collaborations and social media interactions, many talents saw Gamma as a friendly force in Holostars.
That’s why it shocked so many fans when Cover suddenly announced Gamma’s termination from the company.
Cover CORP’s official statement cited difficulty in managing and supporting Hizaki Gamma.
Cover CORP did not elaborate on the reasons but thanked the fans for the support they gave Gamma since his March 2022 debut. The Hizaki Gamma channel and its memberships will close by the end of August 2024.
The vagueness is likely out of respect for Gamma’s privacy. However, Gamma was allowed to share a final message to fans on Twitter, apologizing for his “lack of self-discipline.” Unlike with former Hololive talents Uruha Rushia and Yozora Mel, no specific contract breaches or information leaks were cited as reasons for the termination. Some fans speculate the reasons to be more along the lines of creative differences and managerial disputes. It’s unlikely either side will ever reveal the answers.
Many Hololive talents expressed their feelings on the contract termination on social media. Gamma’s fellow UPROAR!! talents were surprised by the news, stating they found out at the same time as the viewers. Many wished Gamma well for the future and resolved to bring more happiness to fans in the meantime. Cover CORP CEO Motoaki “Yagoo” Tanigo also thanked Gamma for his hard work.
The termination of Hizaki Gamma continues the fabled “Hololive curse,” which began with Kiryu Coco’s graduation in July 2021. Tsukumo Sana graduated from the company in July 2022, citing personal creative reasons. 2023 saw no graduations or contract terminations, but fans said the sudden exits of Magni Dezmond and Noir Vesper in August soon after was just a “delayed” reaction. The incident with Hizaki Gamma showcases the surprising nature of vtuber’s careers, especially under agencies. Whether Hizaki Gamma will continue his vtuber career under a different avatar remains to be seen.
