Heroic has hit plenty of speed bumps over the years when it comes to maintaining its momentum. It was forced to start from scratch in January when Team Falcons scooped up its core while Ninjas in Pyjamas and Team Liquid picked the bones. Though Heroic serving as a bridge between tier two and team one teams isn’t new, it hasn’t often needed to do complete roster teardowns.

But as ever, Heroic proved that it is very good at identifying and developing talent. After a shaky start to 2025, the team surged in regional events and proved itself against top opponents en route to a berth at the BLAST Austin Major. But ahead of the tournament, word broke that the team was set for another shakeup. Eventually, the organization confirmed that substitute Linus “nilo” Bergman and Astrum’s Gleb “gr1ks” Gazin would be added to the roster.

It’s difficult to parse how much of an impact the impending roster changes had on Heroic in Austin. It’s easy to understand the team struggling to stay sharp knowing that their days were numbered. Best-of-one matches were also a factor. And of course, the losses it took came from generally strong opponents.

Odds are that Heroic is going to need time to retake its spot as a tier-one team again. But this new Heroic lineup isn’t starting against tier-one opposition.

BIG has been solid on the European tier-two scene in 2025. Outside a 2-1 win over Aurora Gaming at PGL Astana, it has consistently fallen short against teams that hover around the tier-one scene. This new squad should be, at the very least, around that level.
