Players have recently uncovered a broken trick using Vyse’s wall that essentially prevents enemies from defusing the spike.
Vyse has been on the scene for just a few days, and players are already pushing the limits, exploring every angle for the best defense setups to pull off. Vyse’s main gimmick is her wall trap which is often placed in chokepoints next to her other abilities. When an enemy crosses the line, an indestructible wall appears behind them, cutting them off from their team. This setup allows Vyse to follow up with her molly or flash, making it easier to secure the kill. Her wall tends to find more value on defense, and many players have struggled to find good uses for it on attack aside from watching flanks.
But thanks to the new Vyse wall trick, there is now another way to use her wall against enemies trying to defuse the spike.
New clips show how Vyse’s wall can stop players from defusing the spike after they’ve already started.
When a defender tries to defuse the spike and triggers Vyse’s Shear, the wall pops up, forcing them off the spike. What makes it even tougher is that the wall blocks them from trying again until it disappears. With the wall lasting 7.8 seconds, it eats up a big chunk of the 45 seconds defenders have to defuse the spike after it’s planted. And unlike Sage’s wall, Vyse’s shear cannot be destroyed.
With that in mind, this wall is much more effective the less time defenders have to defuse the spike, similar to how Killjoy’s Nanoswarm, Brimstone’s Incendiary, and Astra’s Gravity Well should be used during post-plant.
To pull off this trick, players need to plant the spike against a flat wall or surface, then place Vyse’s Shear trap right next to the spike. The placement of the wall is crucial. If it’s too close to the spike, the wall will break, causing Vyse to waste 200 credits. Meanwhile, positioning it way too far will summon the wall behind them instead, which will only act as a cover for them, allowing them to safely defuse the spike.
While this strategy might seem overpowered and frustrating to deal with, defenders have a few ways to counter it. Denying the plant, going for fast retakes, flanking, or hunting down Vyse can disrupt the setup. Another clever workaround is by using Gekko’s Wingman to defuse the spike. Since abilities don’t trigger Vyse’s Shear trap, attackers will have no choice but to destroy Wingman themselves.
