In a historical decision, Valve has removed the jump throw bind from Counter-Strike 2 amid the Snap Tap backlash. So, how can you jump Throw in CS2 without getting banned?
Razer’s Snap Tap keyboard has been a hot topic in CS2 for some time now, with pro players calling it a cheat. The new technology allows players to execute counter strafing with zero error, which is not the case when the action is performed manually. That meant even new players could perform the ADAD movement without months of practice. After a month-long discourse around the legitimacy of the keyboard, Valve finally banned it on August 19, but along with it, the hammer also fell on widely-used and ancient jump throw bind. According to Valve, all “binds that include more than one movement and/or attack actions” are illegal in CS2. This news comes two days before Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024: Arabian Open Qualifier. However, pro players will be just fine even without the bind.
It’s the casual CS2 players who are now grasping at straws and trying to find ways to jump throw a smoke to Mirage window consistently every single time.
Currently, the only way to jump throw in CS2 without being banned is by doing it manually. To manually perform a jump throw in CS2 without using any special binds, you can rebind the jump key to a key that’s easier to press along with your throw button. Here’s how to do it.
This bind is possible thanks to CS2’s official jump throw mechanic, where a slightly-mistimed jump and throw input will still give a frame-perfect timing. This can be used to emulate the original bind system, though it make take a couple of tries to learn the timing.
Alternatively, players could use this new bind that the community has developed. It flies under the radar due to its clever incorporation of a revert bind. However, its legitimacy is still questionable and likely occupies a gray area. Paste the following text into the console line by line.
When players press the H key, their character jumps. When they release the H key, the character throws the grenade. After the throw, the bind temporarily disables the H key. This disabling lasts until they move the mouse again. As soon as they move the mouse, the bind reverts everything back to normal.
To enable jump throw again, CS2 players must press the H key once more. The command is a toggle, so pressing H once enables jump throw, and pressing H again disables it and reverts to normal controls. This way, the bind goes undetected. For now, this seems to work for those who have tried it, but its legitimacy is still up in the air.
