Vertigo may not be a favorite map of CS2 players, but it’s certainly a popular pick among pros. Players looking to dip their toes in should start by learning Vertigo callouts in CS2.
In 2024, not all Counter-Strike 2 players are in agreement that Vertigo should continue to be in the active duty map pool. It has a low play rate of 4% but maintains a niche fanbase. Typically, Vertigo is enjoyed at a higher level of play and remains a staple in pro CS2 games. So, if players are looking to take their game to the next level, now may be the time to start learning Vertigo.
Before setting foot into the skyscraper, we recommend going through basic Vertigo callouts.
Vertigo is split into two stories, making it slightly confusing to navigate. However, there are multiple shortcuts and ways to quickly switch between top and bottom. Filled with complex choke points and tight entryways, Vertigo can feel slightly CT-sided, but Ts, with communication and strategy, can breeze through this map.
Both Vertigo bomb sites are on the upper floor whereas Ts spawn on the lower floor. The base is connected to both sides with a slope and stairs. To get into A site, the main entryway is a ramp littered with danger. For this reason, players often gain entry through the side scaffolding, which is equally pesky but can be tackled with a few smoke and flash lineups.
B, on the other hand, has two entries. players can either take the stairs, which are well-guarded with a constant flow of molotovs and grenades, or go through connector. Comparatively, the top corridor is easier to open if you’re ready to face off against an AWPer or an aggressive CT on an SMG.
However, gaining mid-entry is the key to winning Vertigo on the T side, as this area grants you back entry into both bomb sites.
Vertigo can feel like a piece of cake for CTs with cracked aim due to the map design, which allows almost instant rotations from A to B. Both sites are connected via backdoors and an elevator, which allows players to shuffle smoothly between them. The latest changes to the A site have added a new walkway behind the headshot box on the site, allowing CTs a new angle to watch ramp.
However, this angle is equally beneficial for Ts in a post-plant situation if they gain site control, which is easier with communicative teammates who are familiar with Vertigo callouts and choke points.
