Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker has been banned from Twitch and fans are scrambling to find out what happened, why, and whether he might be facing a permanent deplatforming.
Hasan is known for his politics and news-focused streaming, and that’s inevitably going to make him unpopular with some segments of the Twitch audience. That hasn’t stopped him from wading into contentious topics, even as his associates get banned.
One of his recent broadcasts was evidently a step too far for Twitch, though. The streamer has been hit with a ban that will keep him off the platform for a time. Here’s what’s known about the situation.
Hasan was banned from Twitch following a broadcast discussing the killing of two Israeli embassy workers in Washington, DC.
On May 21, Elias Rodriguez was arrested and charged with the killing. The motive behind the killing is opposition to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Following the shooting, Rodriguez posted a manifesto that was seemingly related to the act on his social media accounts.
On May 22, Hasan showed and discussed the manifesto during his Twitch broadcast, which he says led to the ban. He claimed on X that part of the reason for his discussing the manifesto was to combat conspiracies that the killing was actually a false flag. It is unclear why Twitch banned Hasan two days after the stream.
Regardless of what he was saying or why, Hasan has stated that he is on thin ice in regards to his coverage of this military action.
In November 2024, he stated that he had received warnings from Twitch regarding his coverage of the story. This is Hasan’s sixth ban from Twitch. He was previously banned in March 2025 after discussing United States Senator Rick Scott involvement in a medicare fraud case. This broke a punishment-free stretch that dated back to December 2022.
The May 24, 2025 Twitch ban on Hasan is a temporary one. The notification on Hasan’s channel explicitly states that his content is “temporarily unavailable.” Streamers who are permanently or indefinitely banned from the platform have a notification that states the content is “currently unavailable.”
It is unclear how long the ban will be in place, however. Hasan’s March 2025 ban was in place for just one day, something that barely disrupted his broadcast schedule. Previous bans have lasted up to one week.
Though Hasan gave an explanation for the ban on Twitter, he has not stated how long it will be in place. Twitch does not typically give any details on its bans. In extreme cases, as seen with Hasan associate Frogan, these bans could last up to a month.
Regardless, Hasan will be allowed back on Twitch at some point.
