Bao the Whale has been streaming as a vtuber for a few years and has found great success in the virtual landscape, leading fans to search for a face reveal.
She has collaborated with other famous vtubers such as Akuma Nihmune, Shylily, and Filian. Bao has amassed over 750,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel and over 550,000 followers on Twitch. With her fame reaching heights like that, it’s natural to be curious about the identity hiding behind the screen. Vtubers are usually secretive about their identities to protect their privacy, however, there’s been quite a few vtubers lately that have revealed their faces.
Is Bao among the few vtubers to have done a face reveal?
Baeo the Whale has publicly posted multiple face reveals, though they are always censored in some capacity.
Before Bao the Whale debuted, she was a singer named hikarustation. Her music can still be heard on YouTube music and Spotify. In fact, her current Bao the Whale YouTube channel is the original hikarustation channel, just renamed. Her previous song covers can still seen in it where she credited herself as hikarustation. Even as hikarustation, she didn’t usually show her face and was just identified by an anime illustration.
However, recently she has started to do quite a lot of real life streams similar to vlogs. Bao has uploaded quite a bit of these on her YouTube channel, including her walking around conventions like Open Sauce and collaborating with an animal sanctuary. Because of this, we have an idea of how she looks and how she acts outside of her streams. However, she usually wears a face mask to hide a part of her face.
Looking deep into her Twitter, she posted a photo back in 2021. In the image, she used art of an onigiri to cover part of her face. This is somewhat common among vtubers who wish to reveal part of their face, but not fully identify themselves. Fellow vtuber Sinder used a similar tactic as part of cosplaying as herself. In 2022, Bao performed another face reveal where more of her lower face is visible.
With this, it’s easier to piece together what she looks like without her mask. Bao regularly streams on her Twitch channel, and there might be a chance that she’ll stream in real life someday. If fans want to see her face live, this and her YouTube vlogs are a great way to do so.
