Esports data and technology platform GRID has announced a partnership with SMILEGATE, the developer and publisher of tactical first-person shooter Crossfire.

Revealed by release on Feb. 26, GRID’s partnership with SMILEGATE will see data from live matches captured and distributed to support fan engagement and improve player experience, as well as enhance the Crossfire esports scene.

As mentioned, the new deal will see GRID provide essential match data infrastructure for use by fans, broadcast, and players, as they watch and experience Crossfire.

Charlie Hanley-Nickolls, CPO of GRID celebrated the partnership in a shared statement:

“CROSSFIRE has a massive global player base and an esports audience built over nearly two decades by developers who truly understand their players. This partnership reflects the growing recognition of match data as part of the game’s IP—helping evolve esports ecosystems, enabling new activations, improving fan experiences, and unlocking commercial opportunities around the game.”

Kihyoung Cho, SVP of Smilegate also weighed in:

“GRID’s technology gives us new ways to engage players, enhance entertainment value, and innovate around our IP. CROSSFIRE has engaged more than one billion players worldwide, and we see official data distribution as a key part of how we continue to build our community and deliver exceptional experiences.”

As per the announcement, the deal adds Crossfire into GRID’s growing portfolio of titles it now provides stats and data for, and SMILEGATE becomes the latest partnered game publisher. GRID now boasts partnerships across Asia-Pacific and LATAM, coincidentally strongholds for Crossfire, where the title maintains a strong and active esports presence.

Originally released in 2007, CROSSFIRE is one of the FPS titles in history, with millions of players across more than 80 countries. CROSSFIRE Stars, the franchise’s global esports league, has reportedly attracted more than one billion viewers.

As per the release, official CROSSFIRE match data will be available via the GRID Data Platform in 2026.
