The LEC Spring 2025 tournament has reached its fourth week, and the first day of the week’s competition will see GIANTX vs Karmine Corp. Considering the two teams’ varying recent performances, one team may have a significant advantage over the other.
After Karmine Corp’s rocky performance during First Stand, which somehow took the team all the way to the finals, KC is flexing its experience and skill in the current LEC regular season. With four wins and only one loss on its record, the team’s spot in the playoffs is looking more secure by the week.
On the other hand, the team KC is slated to face off against next, GIANTX, isn’t having as good a time. The team only has one win thus far, and it came against the worst-performing team in the tournament, Rogue. Every other match has resulted in a loss. Facing against the favorite to win the entire split, GIANTX will have to overcome a tall wall indeed if it wants to cause an upset.
GIANTX’s recent performance has left much to be desired. The team has consistently let its fans down with a lack of coheisve strategy. While GIANTX won one game against Rogue, the match was filled with poor decisions from both teams. GIANTX’s players seem not to be on the same page during team fights, and the team’s jungler, Isma, usually gets outperformed by the enemy jungler, leading to the team missing out on key objectives.
All of this isn’t to say that the team doesn’t have potential. GIANTX defeated Karmine Corp in the Winter LEC’s regular season and even reached the lower bracket quarterfinals in the playoffs. The problem is that the team’s recent performance has been more than lackluster by comparison, with mistakes not expected from a professional team.
Karmine Corp has established itself as one of the strongest sides in the region by winning the previous LEC Winter split, reaching the First Stand finals, and performing well so far in the current tournament. KC’s biggest strengths are teamfights and objective acquisition. Vladi has been playing excellently recently, and while Karmine isn’t having a perfect split necessarily, the team should have more than enough mechanical skill to outperform GIANTX.
Below are the rosters for both teams in the upcoming match:
GIANTX:
Karmine Corp:
The fearless draft system ensures the same champions can’t be picked more than once in a given match. Fortunately, GIANTX has a handful of champions that the team usually goes for, including Gwen, K’Sante, Sejuani, Skarner, Vi, Azir, Ezreal, and Neeko.
As for Karmine Corp, players can likely expect picks like Ambessa, Vi, Ashe, Miss Fortune, and Alistar. The mid-lane pick is a bit of a coin toss, as Vladi usually shuffles through different champions including Akali, Taliyah, and Yone.
GIANTX and Karmine Corp have faced off against each other four times before. Each teas has won and lost twice.
Karmine Corp’s recent impressive performance ensures it’s the favorite to win the upcoming match with a line of 1.10. In stark contrast, GIANTX has a line of 6.60, establishing it as the underdog.
Karmine Corp has a bad habit of playing very poorly in the early game by taking unnecessary fights and lurking overly much. Luckily for the First Stand finalists, GIANTX is unlikely to capitalize on any given opportunity, at least based on what the team has displayed in the tournament to date. Although GIANTX has potential, the team hasn’t showcased any of it recently enough to inspire bettors.
Vladi, Caliste, Yike, and Canna have all shown high carry potential, and any one of the four players could get enough kills from GX to carry the game. While the lanes could go either way, Karmine Corp’s jungler has a record of more effective ganks and objective captures than Isma, which will likely give KC the first tower and snowball the early game advantage to a victory.
