How well does Kick streaming really pay? All about getting paid on Kick

Kick

Streaming on Kick can pay out big for the platform’s most successful streamers, and there’s no better time to start earning than now. But what really goes into making money on Kick?

Since its founding in 2022, Kick has attracted some of the biggest names in all of livestreaming, and it has provided even bigger paydays for some of its content creators. Major names who migrated to the platform include Felix “xQc” Lengyel, Adin Ross, and Luis “Westcol” Villa. That doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of room for everyday streamers with more modest followings to also make some money of their own on the platform. With a number of categories to stream through and a sizeable audience available to watch upcoming streamers, there’s something on Kick for every streamer and viewer alike.

Streaming is a passion first for some, but others want to turn it into a meaningful career. Here’s how Kick pays for streaming and which ways streamers can go about making money on the Stake-owned platform.

What is the pay for streaming on Kick?

With more generous revenue splits than those offered by streaming platforms such as Twitch, Kick streamers can potentially field greater pay on the platform if they can attract the needed subscribers, but that pay is variable and depends on just how many subscribers one can attract to their channel.

Kick is well-known for being one of the best-paying platforms for its streamers. It promises that 95% of all subscriber revenue goes directly to content creators, compared with approximately 50% for most Twitch streamers. This revenue split, alongside contracts its has given in the past to big-name streamers, means that a lot of money has moved from Kick and its users and into the pockets of the platform’s streamers.

Top streamers are able to make hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions in the case of the absolute biggest streamers, by streaming on Kick alone. As a prominent example, Felix “xQc” Lengyel broke headlines when he signed a $100 million dollar contract with the platform in 2023.

Smaller streamers won’t have access to those types of contracts, of course. Instead, they’ll have to build up their streams from scratch, attracting new viewers, converting those viewers into followers, and then building out a subscriber base. Kick streamers must pass a minimum concurrent viewership barrier, along with a few other modest milestones, in order to start earning money off of user subscriptions. The amount of money offered per subscription averages out to about $4.75 per subscriber, accounting for Kick’s 95/5 revenue split for streamers.

It’s important to note that Kick averages around 400,000 viewers per day, which is less than such competing platforms as Twitch and YouTube. Creators who want to make money by streaming on Kick will need to make sure they diversify their efforts in building a consistent base of viewers. Promoting one’s stream to new potential viewers is critically important, whether that promotion is done through other social media platforms, directly via the games one plays, or otherwise.

How to make money on Kick

There are a number of avenues available to content creators to make money while streaming on Kick, ranging from partnerships to affiliate programs.

One of the most well-known ways to get paid on Kick is by joining the Kick Partnership Program. This pays out per organic viewer recorded during a livestream and rewards the streamers who prove to be sufficiently popular. Users interested in attaining partnership will need to follow all Kick rules, policies, and guidelines, have a verified account on the platform, and meet the following streaming and audience requirements:

  • Stream for 30+ hours within a 30-day period.
  • Have 25+ active subscribers and 250+ followers.
  • Have 250+ unique chatters in a 30-day period.
  • Maintain an average of 75+ concurrent viewers.

Streamers active on other streaming platforms are still allowed to apply for the Partnership Program.

Kick partners now also have the option to multistream to different platforms while still earning 50% of the regular payout on Kick. This allows content creators to make a run at building up an audience on Kick, while still continuing to stream on Twitch or YouTube. It does cut into the amount of money that can be made, however; to maximize earnings on Kick, streams must be exclusive to the platform.

Users can also use advertising overlays or otherwise direct viewers to other revenue-generating sources while streaming on Kick. These methods may consist of running advertisement banners across the stream, using the Streamlabs tips page, and more.

Beyond using Kick’s own tools for making money, streamers can also seek out affiliate programs with other companies who are willing to partner with streamers and content creators in general. These programs involve a streamer regularly using and promoting specific products, then earning a commission based off of any product sales made via links or codes that are unique to the partnered streamer. Some common resources for this sort of affiliate business include Streamlabs, VPN providers, and various food delivery services. Whatever the interest of the streamer, there’s likely an affiliate program out there.

Finally, for more established content creators with loyal and relatively large fanbases already built, there are a number of further options. They can sell their own merch, or accept payment via a secondary platform like Patreon or OnlyFans. Advertising brands are also more likely to want to collaborate directly with established creators. creating even more direct revenue opportunities.

Ultimately, the key to getting paid for streaming on Kick is to be consistent in one’s streaming habits, to be aggressive promoting one’s self, and of course, to be an entertaining personality who users want to watch and chat with. The more one streams and promotes their channel, the more viewers they’ll potentially be able to attract and the more money they’ll be able to make by streaming on Kick.

So while big pay is absolutely available to both current and new streamers on Kick, getting paid on Kick really depends on working hard towards being successful in both streaming and in promoting those streams.
