With quarterfinals done, the usual two regions are left in the competition. We’re kicking the first semifinal off with an all-LCK match-up! In this GenG vs KT Rolster preview we see what this match has in store for us.
| Match | GenG vs KT Rolster – LoL Worlds 2025 Semifinals |
|---|---|
| Kick-off | November 1, 2025, at 12 am EST / 8 am CET |
| Top pick | GenG to win 3-0 |
| Betting favorite | GenG |
This is a match-up between a team who enters the semifinals without having seen their Nexus explode a single time, and a team that is sitting at 7-2. Naturally, it is the latter who are the heavy favorites in this match-up.
KT being in the semifinals is a first, and them being undefeated is a complete anomaly. We’ve seen that match-up twice in Summer in the LCK Playoffs, and if KT was able to narrowly come out on top once, they got flattened in the rematch.
That second match is what we can expect out of tomorrow’s series.

With every match that passes, the likelihood of GenG once again finishing below expectations at Worlds gets lower. The expectations are winning Worlds.
The quarterfinals went according to GenG’s identity through the year. Quiet early, great macro around the map, great teamfights and very few mistakes overall to make use of. Conversely, they will punish the mistakes they see and never let go of the resulting lead. They are the very traditional image of the LCK. And they’re still the favorites to win the whole thing.

KT, on the other hand, is very much not a good representation of Korea. They’re not consistent, they make mistakes, they’re a more explosive team. But they reminded CFO and the world that in spite of their easy schedule, they didn’t just get there through luck. And now, they’re in the semifinals, and ready to cause more mayhem.
After all, KT is still the only team that managed to beat GenG in a Bo5 since the start of the Spring split. (… Even though they immediately lost to them in a 3-0 right after.)
I’ll start with KT’s chances. KT initially drew concerns about their early game at Worlds. Playing against CFO, a team that’s been particularly aggressive and apt at generating leads early on, KT did not budge. They held their ground and managed to win starting in the laning phase.
As for GenG, their aim in lane has just been to minimize the mistakes, to make it through there and dominate afterwards. That didn’t go so smoothly for them against HLE though. With the exception of Kiin, GenG left openings for HLE to get ahead at the start of the game, and they had to claw the games back afterwards.
That’s KT’s avenue to make a move and that’s about all there’s to it. In the games where HLE made mistakes early on, even just minor miscalculations, the game was never theirs anymore. KT’s strong point isn’t not making mistakes.
GenG outclass KT everywhere besides that small what if. KT won against CFO by beating them around objectives CFO shouldn’t have tried to contest. Which is a mistake that GenG isn’t going to do.
GenG will get ahead, and KT will feel the pressure for the first time all tournament long, and they won’t be able to recover from it. So I don’t see it end any other way than in a thorough domination from GenG past, maybe, the first 15 minutes of game 1.
There is this long-standing joke that as soon as one person gets excited for KT, they lose. That is only when nobody expects them to win that they pull off the unthinkable and achieve what no other team managed to.
It’s taken to extreme proportions as a joke, but it’s rooted in a pattern. That’s precisely how they got their one win against GenG. And how that was the last thing they would achieve, before getting crushed by HLE, and then GenG in the LCK playoffs.
KT will want to channel their underdog magic once more, to take out GenG (before losing 3-0 in the finals immediately after).
| Market | Odds |

Odds subject to change.
There’s no discussion there, this match is a GenG victory. The question is will the series will be a 3-0 or a 3-1? To me, a 3-0 scenario is much more likely. Based on the fact that this is how their last encounter went, from the momentum, and from the fact that KT was never challenged at Worlds and that this will be a rough awakening that they aren’t prepared for. My predictions for this match are:
