In the LCK Cup, HLE finished dead last. Now, they’re sitting right behind KT Rolster for first.
On the other hand, the Gen.G that reigned over the entire world for two years in a row has lost its footing since their defeat to G2 Esports. With two losses already, they’re tied for most matches conceded in a season since 2023 – and it’s only week 3.
Gen.G’s main strength is their ability to somehow generate gold. With excellent laners and a better handling of timings, they passively accrue a gold lead over their opponents through minions and plates alone.
Adding to that, they prepare better for objectives. Most teams set up their lines in the minute prior to an objective. Gen.G on the other hand does it minutes ahead of time, letting them catch their opponents during their warding. Somehow though, both KT and Dplus KIA were able to cleanly outclass them.
As for HLE, they added Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok and Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong to their roster in 2026. Despite having a three-time World champion and a regional play terror, the team took some time to gel.
In the end, gel they did. HLE dropped a match to T1 as is tradition, but looked sharp against both DK and HANJIN BRION. While not as clean, they also won against Winter runner-up BNK FearX. HLE is improving fast and Kanavi is their rock to stand on.
Currently, Hanwha Life is still shaky, and Gen.G is not a team to let mistakes go unpunished. However, it’s only a matter of time until HLE fully clicks together. The question is whether that time is up.
