After one of the most exciting matches in the LCK 2025 rounds 1-2 tournament, Gen.G and T1 will face off once again at the end of week seven. Since both teams are currently placed in the top three, fans worldwide are hotly anticipating this rematch.
The LCK 2025 season continues to pit some of the strongest Korean League of Legends teams against each other. While some teams like Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports have comfortably climbed to the top of the leaderboards, others like T1 have uncharacteristically struggled.
T1 lost against Gen.G in one of the most impressive matches in recent competitive League of Legends. But what followed was a series of matches where T1 showcased worse performance than fans expected. Since T1 is now in a better place than at the start of the tournament, many fans may wonder whether T1 can ensure this match against Gen.G goes differently.
T1 has one of the most stacked League of Legends teams in the game, and the ongoing competition hasn’t given fans any reason to doubt that. While the relatively new top laner Doran has been fairly inconsistent, frequently feeding the enemy for no good reason, Faker and Oner have performed in almost every match. Highlights of both players include Faker getting his second-ever pentakill and Oner having high objective acquisition numbers, despite sometimes going for off-meta picks like Talon.
This isn’t to say it has been smooth sailing for T1. The team struggled a lot near the start of the league, losing to teams it should have beaten handily and struggling against almost everyone. Fortunately, with the issues revolving around Gumayusi and Smash seemingly resolved, the team seems to be in a much better space and that will no doubt affect the match against Gen.G.
Speaking of Gen.G, the team has been on a great streak of play. With 13 won matches and only three lost games in total, the team is dominating the LCK. Canyon and Chovy may be the standout players with carry potential, but that doesn’t mean the other players are slacking off. With excellent coordination, champion drafts, and tactics, Gen.G is easily the favorite to win the whole competition.
Below are the rosters for both teams:
Gen.G:
T1:
Gen.G may have experimented with a bunch of champion picks in the LCK with great success, but it’ll likely want to go for its stronger compositions. This includes picks like Gwen, Rumble, Xin Zhao, Skarner, Naafiri, Ahri, Miss Fortune, Jhin, Rakan, Nautilus, and Alistar.
It wouldn’t be surprising if T1 goes for its tried and tested picks, especially considering Gen.G is one of the strongest teams it’ll go against. Faker will likely go for picks he specializes in, like Viktor and Ahri, while Oner will go for Xin Zhao and Sejuani. The other players will likely pick Ambessa, Gwen, Jhin, Miss Fortune, Rakan, Alistar, and Lulu.
Gen.G is undefeated in the LCK and hasn’t lost a single match. Below are the team’s last five matches played:
While T1 has yet to challenge any of the top teams in the current LCK after its loss against BRION in week four, it seems to have largely found its footing in its last five matches pkayed:
Gen.G and T1 have faced off on the big stage 39 times before. With 20 wins under its belt, Gen.G has a slight advantage, though that doesn’t mean T1 is far behind. T1 can equalize the numbers again if it wins against the opposing team here.
T1 is on a winning streak and performing much better than it was before, but Gen.G is in great shape. It’s no surprise that Gen.G is the favorite to win with a betting line of 1.28 compared to T1’s 3.60.
T1 has picked it up, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the match against Gen.G will go differently. Gen.G seemed to have adapted its strategy following its loss against Hanwha Life Esports in the last LCK Cup. While the team initially showed some holes in its new strategy, it may have perfected things since, as shown by how Gen.G has steamrolled through its opposition.
Oner and Canyon are both excellent junglers, while Chovy and Faker will likely play passively in the mid lane to not give the other player a chance to snowball. The match will likely be determined by which team roams better to get an early advantage that can be converted into a game win, and considering Gen.G’s recent matches, it may very well be Gen.G that manages the feat.
