Gawr Gura gets a new model, here’s what it looks like

Hololive’s shark girl Gawr Gura has debuted a new model and fans are already in love with the ice shark outfit.

Gawr Gura debuted in 2020 alongside other popular Hololive talents such as the detective vtuber Amelia Watson. Her popularity grew at lightning-fast speed and she defeated Kizuna AI to become the most-subscribed vtuber on YouTube. The vtuber currently boasts more than 4.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.

At the peak of her success, Gawr Gura began to stream less frequently, sparking rumors that she was planning to graduate. The vtuber didn’t share any intention of leaving the agency with viewers and has still been streaming sporadically. Hololive then surprised fans by tweeting that Gawr Gura would debut a new model.

Gawr Gura started her stream by showcasing viewers’ unique predictions about what her new outfit would look like. These creative designs ranged from a penguin suit whose orange mittens the vtuber quite liked, to a design that would turn the shark girl into a lizard. The vtuber excitedly showed off all the interesting guesses by fans before beginning with the real thing viewers were all waiting for.

Gawr Gura’s new outfit doesn’t have the famous shark hood like her previous model. This is likely because it’s based on her 1.0 model, as it was supposed to be released in 2024. The vtuber’s new model is dressed in a huge blue coat, a scarf, and cute light blue mittens. During the stream, many viewers expressed their love for Gawr Gura’s adorable new look, which they have nicknamed the “ice shark” outfit.

The new winter outfit comes with various features and toggles that the vtuber displays in the stream. The shark girl showed her viewers that her scarf was a removable accessory that she could wear or take off according to her preference. The coat can also be toggled, and Gawr Gura can decide if she needs it depending on the weather.

Some viewers claimed that the vtuber had squashed rumors of her graduation by debuting a new model, but others are refuting this. They reminded fans of Hololive’s Magni Dezmond and Noir Vesper. These two vtubers received new models and then mysteriously both graduated from the agency. So Gawr Gura debuting a new model doesn’t necessarily mean she won’t leave Hololive in the near future, though it certainly has given her fans something else to talk about in the meantime.
