German esports company GamerLegion has expanded into Dota 2, signing the former roster of Wildcard Gaming and Apex Genesis.
The acquisition was announced via social media on on Nov. 11 with the organization committing to support the team at PGL Wallachia Season 6, the company’s first Dota 2 event.
The organization, which has competed in Counter-Strike since 2019, now moves to a another top-tier esports, acquiring this North American roster as their lineup. Luke “Yamsun” Wang, Francis “RCY” Fundemera, Victor “Fayde” Zuev, Danil “Bignum” Shekhovtsov, and Paul “Speeed” Bocchicchio, join GamerLegion after being dropped by former organization, Wildcard.
Following their drop, the stack were set to compete in both PGL Wallachia Season 6 and DreamLeague Season 27 as Apex Genesis, before being signed by the German CS org. Now they will enter these events under that mantle.
Joining the roster as coach is former Heroic coach Andrei-Vlad “Mangusu” Sateanu, whose steady hand saw his team reach 5th-6th position at The International 2025. Veteran team manager Maggie “stresspresso” Hogie joins as project manager.
GamerLegion, who also operate rosters in Rocket League and Age of Empires, have never previously competed in Dota 2.
The organization had been a solid competitor at the B-tier of European Counter-Strike, but after a second place finish at the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, and solid finishes throughout 2025, seems to be moving into the higher echelons of competition.
Now, GamersLegion expands even further. But the question of whether a North American Dota 2 team is the best way to start remains to be seen.
NA Dota has historically struggled after the heyday of EG winning TI5. Since then, many of the biggest NA talents have found more success as individuals on European rosters.
