Coming up with a decent Stake strategy in wagering on your favorite sports or even gambling with its huge range of games can be tedious work. But with this guide, you can find out a few ways to win.

Regardless of what type of game you’re playing, having a plan is essential. Different games need different approaches and developing a strategy can really help manage your bankroll, make playing more fun, and improve your playing experience.  I’ll explain a few of my winning stake strategies and give you some background on Stake.com.

🤔 What is Stake.com? What makes it so good?

Stake.com is one of the best gambling sites available at the moment. It’s gained huge traction since its inception in 2017 and even if you’re not familiar with the online gambling scene, you might recognise stake.com from their sponsorships of things like the Kick Sauber F1 team. They support a number of cryptocurrencies and their site is slick and easy to use. Their cryptocurrency focus ensures secure and quick transactions and supports the renowned Stake.com withdrawal time.

They are also known for their own original games, like Stake Mines, which I’ve included as an example of how you can deploy a betting strategy below. There are loads of features packed into this site, from sports betting, to their live community chat which is truly a standout feature in the online gambling landscape. The Stake.com VIP levels also mean that any player, regardless of how casual or dedicated, will definitely feel appreciated.

There are also plenty of generous bonuses and promotions up for grabs with Stake.com. In fact, here’s one for you now:

  • Bonus code:
  • Bonus offer: 200% bonus up to $2000

So without further ado, here’s my breakdown of effective Stake.com strategies. Some might be known to you, some might not be but there’s something for you in this article whether you’re new to betting strategies or whether you’re an experienced player.

📌My favorite betting strategies explained:

Betting strategies are a structured approach to betting, there are loads of different strategies out there but I’ll give you a breakdown on a few different ones here. Later on, I’ll also explain how you can turn these into effective Stake.com strategies. But remember, there’s no way to guarantee you’ll win or make consistent profit.

📊🧮 Flat Betting

In short, flat betting is the simplest betting strategy around. It’s just betting the same amount every round regardless of whether you win or not. This might sound like a bit of a cop-out but there are actually some pros to it.

While it might not be that flash or that exciting, it’s simple and easy to follow. You might feel you’re not going to get the most out of winning streaks but you’re also going to minimize your risk of big losses on any single hand, round, spin or play.

It’s a great start because it gives you structure to your play. It’s an easy way to set boundaries for yourself and to help you avoid impulsive or emotional betting. These are always going to be at the core of good Stake.com strategies.

📉📈 Martingale and its variations

You’re probably familiar with the Martingale strategy even if you don’t know it by name. It’s where you double your bet every time you lose. The theory here is that any winning round might recoup the lost bets that came before it and give you back your stake as well. Essentially, your stake will be the sum cost of all lost bets that came before it.

Now, the more keen-eyed among you will have realised that this only really works for games that offer 1:1 or over payouts, i.e. you double or more your stake when you win. It’s also better with games that offer relatively even odds. For example, if you’re playing roulette using the martingale strategy with bets on red or black might be a good option (be aware of the house edge in roulette though). However, if you were choosing a single number each time, your odds would be 2.7% so while you could win way over what you’ve staked, you’re likely to either run out of bankroll or hit the table limits before you win.

There are a number of different variations on this classic Stake.com strategy. Such as Over-Martingale, which is where instead of doubling, say you triple your stake on every loss. This is a much more aggressive form of betting than the standard Martingale and is also known as a progressive multiplier system. Note, if you’re using an Over-Martingale strategy, you’re much more likely to exhaust your bankroll or hit the table limits.

🧠📈 Paroli betting

On the subject of progressive multiplier strategies, Paroli betting is another form of this. Some people consider it a variation on the Martingale, an “anti-Martingale”,  but there’s a bit more to it. A Paroli betting strategy seeks to minimise losses on losing hands and maximise winnings during a win streak.

Rather than multiplying your bets when you lose, you instead increase them when you win. Rather than a straightforward reverse-martingale, you’ll set a cap on the number of times you’ll multiply your stake. 3 winning rounds in a row before you reset your bet size to whatever amount you started with is quite common.

Like the Martingale system, this tends to lend itself best to games with fairly even odds and even-money payouts.

📐💹 The Kelly Criterion

The Kelly Criterion is where it starts to get a bit more analytical and math-y. Interestingly, it got its start in the world of IT where it was created to analyse and optimize the speed of information sent across networks. It quickly became a hit for gamblers and investors alike.

It’s a formula that helps you determine what size bet you should make. In short, using the Kelly Criterion will mean you’re betting more when your chances of winning are high and less when your chances are lower. It stands out from the other strategies I’ve mentioned because it takes into account a number of factors: your perceived probability of winning, the size of your bankroll, and the odds available.

To calculate the fraction of your bankroll to bet using the Kelly Criterion, you have to estimate your chances of winning, multiply it by the net odds for the best, subtract your chance of losing and then divide the number by your net odds again.

The formula looks like this:

  • f  = (p * b – q) / b
  • f is the fraction of your bankroll to bet.
  • p is your estimate of your probability of winning
  • b is the net odds. So if you’re playing a game that doubles your money (an even-money payout), this would be 1.
  • q is the probability of losing, to work this out, you simply subtract 1 by your estimate of winning probability.

The Kelly Criterion is designed to maximise long-term growth of your bankroll and it accounts for your perceived edge. The tricky part is actually accurately estimating your probability of winning. If you have a large bankroll, it can also suggest big bets which can be a bit daunting. The obvious downside to this is that you’re going to have to do calculations every time you place a bet which is definitely easier said than done. This is especially true if you’re playing live-dealer games where the time between hands is limited.

A few practical tips for deploying this Stake.com strategy:

  • If you’re unsure about your odds of winning, or not 100% confident about your estimate, you can always bet less than the formula suggests. A lot of players actually just half the amount every time.
  • It works best when you actually have an edge. This is why it’s used in investment banking as their chances of success improve with the quality of their research. It might be better to give this a go with sports betting where you have more time and there’s more options for research.
  • As it takes into account the size of your bankroll, you might want to ‘segment’ your bankroll. Essentially, put less than you have into the formula to stay conservative with your bets.

⚡ How these strategies compare to each other

I’ve put together this table so you can see a quick comparison of these different betting strategies and how you might be able to deploy them as Stake.com strategies.

📊 Betting Strategy⚙ How they work📈 Risk level🔎 Who it’s best for

💰 Bankroll management is just as important as your strategy.

Bankroll management might sound a bit boring but it’s a key part of betting strategies. Good bankroll management will help you weather losing streaks and maximise your chances of coming out ahead in the long run. There’s more to it than just making bets and any solid Stake.com strategy is going to start here. Here are a few of the key ideas:

🔃 Set yourself limits

Set an amount that you’re happy to lose in a session, or given time period, or maybe just on a specific game. It’s also worth setting a win limit so you know when to take a step back once you’ve hit your target and lock-in your winnings. Doing this is going to help keep you focused, stop you chasing losses, and prevent emotional decision making.

💡 Bet proportionally to size of your bankroll

It’s a good idea to never bet too much of your bankroll on a single bet. I personally would avoid risking more than 10% at any single time, with a bet of 1 to 2% being a nice conservative starting point. If you’re winning regularly and the size of your bankroll is growing, you can always increase the size of your bets. Remember, it’s also totally fine to reduce the size of your bets if your bankroll is shrinking as well.

👁 Keep an eye on your historic bets

Fortunately, Stake.com keeps track of all of your bets for you. Make sure you occasionally check in with this section of your account. It might help you understand where you’re winning and where you’re losing so you can change your betting strategies accordingly.

🧠 Implementing these ideas on Stake.com

So, now you’re wondering how you should use these on Stake.com? Well, I’ll give you a few examples of different games and let you know how to use them as Stake.com strategies. Remember though, outcomes are never guaranteed and it’s important to never bet more than you’re willing to lose.

🎮 Stake Mines

Stake Mines is one of my favourite games on the site, it’s probably fair (meaning it’s blockchain backed). You can choose how many mines are hidden in the tiles and then you click the tiles to reveal gems, or bombs. Each safe click increases your payout, but hitting a min ends the round and you lose your bet.

With Stake Mines, I’d recommend either a Flat Betting strategy or a Progressive strategy if you’re feeling brave. Starting out with a fixed and modest amount is going to be ideal here, because of the volatility. It’s going to help keep your bankroll healthy.

I would also suggest putting loss and win limits in place when playing Stake Mines. You can also use a progressive multiplier strategy, like Paroli here, but note it is quite risky because of the high variance and volatility. Definitely consider keeping your win streak reset fairly low, with 2 or 3 to ensure an effective Stake.com strategy.

🎰 Slots

Again, with slots – there are literally thousands on offer at Stake.com – the best strategy is here a flat bet strategy. Take into consideration your bankroll, what proportion of it you’re willing to lose in a slots session, how long you want to play for, and crack on.

If you’re playing high volatility slots, stay patient with small bets. If you’re playing low-volatity, my best advice is to stick with the small bets but you can be a little bit more aggressive.

My favourite slot game at the moment is Sweet Bonanza on Stake.com, it’s a relatively high volatility game with candy crush style looks. There’s exciting potential for big multipliers as well.

Unfortunately, with slot-style games each spin is independent so there’s no point in changing bets or chasing your losses. So the Martingale, Paroli, and Kelly methods are pretty redundant here.

♠️ Blackjack and Roulette

Blackjack and roulette both offer even-money odds options so you can use a couple of the strategies above. Flat betting, as ever, will keep you focused on structured play and help you overcome any desire  to change your bet up. The Martingale method works well here, especially if you’re betting on black or red in roulette or even money blackjack hands. It’s definitely worth noting that a losing streak combined with table limits might get in your way here and disrupt your strategy.

Unfortunately, the Kelly Criterion doesn’t really shine here either because you can’t beat the edge of the house on roulette. While Stake.com doesn’t outright say that card-counting is against their rules, they have taken some precautions to make it nearly impossible. They use a number of decks and practise something called continuous shuffle which effectively eliminates any possibility of building your own edge over the house.

If you’re keen on playing blackjack on Stake.com, there are a number of different resources that might help you. Stake.com themselves have both a guide on all of their blackjack games and also an informative blackjack strategy guide.

🏆 Sports Betting

Sports betting on Stake.com is exactly what it sounds like. They offer both predictive and live bets so you can make bets on the outcomes of real world sports. The odds are set by the bookmaker, stake here, and they normally reflect their assessment of the likelihood of any given outcome.

Sports betting is where the Kelly Criterion really shines and it’s the ideal strategy here. You can use a variety of different resources, like your expertise on certain sports or teams, or you can do your own research. Essentially, come up with your probability estimates and compare them to the odds that Stake.com provides.

It’s worth spending the time finding bets that you think are underestimated. These are called value bets. You should be able to use your knowledge of specific sports and teams, coupled with this structured approach, to create an effective winning strategy for you. If you are betting on Stake UFC markets, then it would be wise to learn more about the game and find out the best ways to maximize your wagers.
