Is blackjack on Stake.com any good? Yes, I reckon so. There are plenty of different options on Stake.com for blackjack but my favourite is their Stake Blackjack original game. It’s everything I want from online blackjack.

In this article, I’ll get into the basics of blackjack for beginners, do a deep dive on why Stake Blackjack is so good, and give you a few strategies and tips along the way. There’s also a bonus code up for grabs so make sure to stick around. So this’ll be worth a read regardless of your experience.

📌 How to play blackjack

If you’re new to blackjack, don’t worry, I’ll give you a quick breakdown on the basic rules. If you know what you’re doing, hang around because there’s a bonus code further down and I’ve also included a few of my favourite strategies to help you get the most out of blackjack on Stake.com.

The good news is that blackjack isn’t too difficult to get to grips with. In short, you compete with the dealer to get as close to the card value of 21, without going bust, as possible. At the most basic level, once your hand is dealt, you’ll need to make the decision on whether to stand or hit. To stand means you’re happy with the value of your cards and you don’t want to add another card to your hand. If you hit, a card will be drawn from the deck and added to your hand. If this card puts the value of your hand over 21, you’ll go bust and lose the round.

If you get a blackjack – if you’re dealt an ace and a card with a value of 10 (a 10, jack, queen, or king) – you’ll instantly win the hand and secure a better payout than you would if you beat the dealer normally.

However, you don’t just have a choice to hit or stand, there are a couple of other different actions you can take too:

🤝 Action📌 What it does
SplitIf the first two cards you’re dealt are a pair i.e. two sixes, you can choose to split. When you split your hand, you break your hand out into two. Bear in mind that you’ll need to place the same bet again for the new hand.
InsuranceYou can only make an insurance bet when the dealer’s face up card is an ace. You’re essentially making a bet on whether or not the dealer has blackjack or not.
DoubleWhen you double down, you choose to double the amount you’ve bet in exchange for just one more card. Despite this being quite a risky maneuver, you might do this if you’re feeling good about your hand and the next card. Note though, that you choose to double down, you won’t be able to hit on that hand again.

🚀 Here’s a quick review of the order of play

At the start of the round, the dealer will give each player at the table and themselves two cards. Player’s cards are usually dealt face up whilst one of the dealer’s cards will remain facedown.

The first player (dealer’s left) makes their decision on what to do, that might be stand, hit, double, etc. Depending on which of Stake.com’s blackjack games you’re playing, you might find there aren’t any other players.

Once all of the players have finished their turns, the dealer will reveal their face down card. The dealer also gets to play and they can choose to stand or hit. Generally, dealers will aim to get 17 or more.

After the dealers finished their turn, the hands are compared. Any hands that haven’t bust and are higher than the dealer’s will receive a payout.

🤔 So where should you play blackjack online?

If you’re looking to play blackjack online, my personal recommendation is Stake.com’s original blackjack game. For starters, Stake.com is a widely respected and trusted site – you can check out our full Stake.com review here.

Secondly, if you’re taken with their own original Stake Blackjack game (I think you will be, after all, there are 200,000 unique players each month), they have a number of different blackjack games including dealer options to explore. There are also thousands of other games available on Stake.com as well, such as their Stake Aviamasters.

There are a number of other pros to playing Stake Blackjack: It’s got a great UI which makes it fast and responsive and because it’s not a live dealer game, you can play at your own pace. You won’t have to wait around for other players or you can take your time and go at your own pace.

It’s also worth mentioning that this is a provably fair game – this essentially means that the outcome of every hand is recorded in the blockchain. So you’ll be able to verify the outcome. It’s this sort of transparency that has given Stake.com its trustworthy reputation. If you’ve been wondering whether or not Stake Blackjack is rigged – this is your answer: it isn’t and it has a rock solid reputation in the market for being trustworthy and transparent.

⚖ Pros and cons of playing Stake Blackjack:

Here’s a quick look at why I think Stake Blackjack is one of the best options out there at the moment:

Pros and cons
Pros and cons
  • Provably fair
  • Beginner friendly
  • Play at your own pace
  • Great and intuitive UI
  • Limited advanced features like sidebets

👀 Are the Stake Blackjack rules the same as normal blackjack?

Stake Blackjack rules are pretty straightforward and you won’t find any surprises. This means it’s great for beginners as you won’t be getting caught up in potentially confusing side bets. The good news is that Stake Blackjack has a very high RTP (return to player) and an extremely competitive house edge which makes it stand out from the crowd.

Some key foibles of Stake Blackjack rules are, aside from no side bets, you’ll only be able to split once, so if you score another pair after your initial split, you won’t be able to split either of the hands again. You’ll also find that there isn’t a surrender option, which isn’t that common.

Another good reason to play online with Stake.com is that they regularly offer great bonuses and promotions. In fact, here’s one for you now:

🔥 Best strategies for Stake Blackjack

If you’re looking for how to get the most fun out of Stake Blackjack, I’ll clue you into a couple of what I think are the most appropriate strategies for this game. They aren’t too complicated so you’ll be able to use them regardless of how much experience you have.

🌟 Bankroll strategies – the core of strategic betting.

Before we get started, there are a couple of important basic ideas that we should all always keep in mind. These aren’t specific to blackjack but it’s a solid starting point. You should set yourself limits, both win and loss, to ensure that you have a clear goal in mind and don’t get too carried away. I find that setting myself a winning goal not only means I’m gambling responsibly but also adds another layer of satisfaction when you hit it.

Another important idea for stretching your play time out is to make sure you make proportionate sized bets to your bankroll. For blackjack, a conservative bet would be around 0.5% to 1% and an aggressively sized bet would be 2-3% of your total bankroll, or the amount you’ve decided is appropriate for your blackjack session.

Managing your bankroll is good practice when playing Stake Chicken games as well. Or any other titles at Stake.com.

⚡ The strategies

There are two strategies I’d recommend for Stake Blackjack, they can be combined.

Firstly, a slightly adapted basic strategy. You might have heard the saying ‘never stand on a soft 17’ and this is where that comes from. The idea is to minimise your losses on hands where it might seem your standing is a bit shaky but making mathematically optimised decisions.

In the table below, I’ll outline a few key scenarios and what the best action is. To clarify, a soft hand is any hand with an ace that can be played as either an 1 or 11 and a hard hand is when you can use your ace as a 1.

🎡 Scenario (first hand is yours, second is the dealers)🚀 What you should do
Hard 16 vs 10Hit
Pair of 8s vs 10Split, over time this provides better odds.
Soft 18 vs 9, 10, or AHit
Double only on 9, 10, or 11Double
Don’t split 4s, 5s, or 10sUnless the dealer has weak cards (4, 5 or 6)
Hit soft 17Hit – while a soft 17 may look strong, over time the odds aren’t in your favour.

The second strategy is deploying a flat betting system i.e. always betting the same amount but with targeted doubling when you have a strong hand. Once you’ve decided how much you’re going to bet – consider the bankroll strategy I mentioned above – you stick with it. You avoid rational or irrational bet value increases. However, you double down when you have these hands:

  • Hard 9 vs 3-6
  • Hard 10 vs 2-9
  • Hard 11 vs 2-10

This is great for when you’re trying to complete Stake.com’s wagering challenges or hit rakeback milestones.

The first strategy will help to flatten out the house edge and flat betting is going to ensure you stay consistent and help you qualify for any relevant promotions.

As with all online gambling, it’s important to ensure that you’re playing responsible. A few pointers for making sure you are playing responsibly are:

  • Set limits. Decide in advance how much time and money you’re willing to lose and stick to it.
  • Play for entertainment, not an income. You should always view gambling as entertainment, wins are never guaranteed and outcomes are always based on chance.
  • Take breaks. If you’re no longer enjoying playing or you feel pressure to keep going, it’s a good idea to take those as queues for knowing when to stop.
  • Know when to stop. Gambling should never interfere with your personal or professional life or your responsibilities.

👍 Is Stake Blackjack a good option?

Stake Blackjack, at least in my opinion, is one of the best options available online for a quick and easy to play blackjack game, combined with Stake.com’s rock-solid reputation, it becomes an extremely compelling option. Stake.com is also an all round good platform, not just for blackjack, they have best-in-class social features and a wide array of on-going promotions and offers – they’ll even give you a Stake.com birthday bonus.

There are hundreds of different games available so even if you do get bored of blackjack and want to try something else, you’ll be in good stead (one of my favourites is the Stake Aviator game). Why not go and test out the game for yourself? You can use one of the banners around this page to visit Stake.com and get started today.
