BetBoom Team has advanced to the finals of Fissure Universe 4, but Team Tidebound and Gaimin Gladiators still need to face off to determine who gets to challenge them.
Fissure Universe 4 brought together many of Dota 2’s best teams, but only three are left standing in the event. Despite using a “Counter-Strike Swiss” format for the group stage, the event used a classic The International-style playoffs system with a double-elimination bracket and two-match finals day.
That means either Team Tidebound or Gaimin Gladiators will have a long Sunday, but who will it be and how should you approach betting on them? Find out.
Team Tidebound and Gaimin Gladiators will play in the lower bracket finals of Fissure Universe 4 on March 30, 2025. This is a best-of-three match to determine who will face BetBoom Team in the grand finals of the event. The loser is eliminated from the tournament, but receives its $60,000 third-place prize.
Chinese Dota 2 is in an awkward spot but Team Tidebound has quickly established itself as a force in the region. That’s not much of a surprise as Tidebound’s roster brings together five proven veterans of the scene:
The team placed top eight in its first proper LAN, PGL Wallachia Season 3. It’s guaranteed at least a top-three finish in Fissure Universe 4, which it got courtesy of wins over the likes of Team Falcons, Parivision, and Tundra Esports.
Team Tidebound is undefeated with Io, Primal Beast, Pangolier, and Marci, playing at least five games with those heroes. The team also has at least 10 games and a 70% winrate with Jakiro, Gyrocopter, Phantom Assassin, Terrorblade, and Magnus.
Gaimin Gladiators started strong in the group stage with wins over M80 and Team Falcons, but needed to squeak into the playoffs after losses to Team Spirit and Parivision. It did so by beating 1win Team. In the playoffs, Gaimin looked strong by beating Team Liquid and Team Falcons, but it fell into the lower bracket after losing to BetBoom Team.
The team’s roster for Fissure Universe 4 includes these players:
To this point on patch 7.38, Gaimin Gladiators has been the most successful with Abaddon and Muerta, going 5-1 when choosing the heroes. It’s also 5-2 with Centaur Warrunner and Warlock.
Team Tidebound and Gaimin Gladiators have not yet played a match against each other. The Chinese team only formed in January and most of its games to this point have been in Chinese regional qualifiers. There are many fresh matchups for the team, with Gaimin Gladiators being one of them.
Gaimin Gladiators is regarded as a very slight favorite over Team Tidebound. The lines stand at 1.8 and 1.95 respectively, and it’s possible that some bookmakers will have them even or that betting will push the line even. This is a strong demonstration of how much of an impact Team Tidebound has had already.
Team Tidebound’s momentum should carry the team through Gaimin Gladiators. While y` and company haven’t been bulletproof in Fissure Universe 4, the team has been good enough to feel bullish on.
