SK Gaming has announced on Twitter that their AD Carry, Jean “Jezu” Massol, won’t be available in Week 3 of LEC due to health issues. To replace him, they called up Ilya “Gadget” Makavchuk from their German Prime League academy team, SK Gaming Prime.
According to SK, Jezu was feeling unwell on Week 2, but he decided to play through it. As his symptoms did not improve, SK called up Gadget from their academy team early in the week and listed him as a starter for Week 3.
Although Gadget is a familiar name in League of Legends with international experience, this will be his first LEC appearance. He made his name in the CIS’s League of Legends Continental League (LCL), where he played for Unicorns of Love and qualified for the 2020 World Championship’s group stage.
Since then, Gadget has played in the Prime League: for MOUZ, then for SK Gaming Prime in 2022.
A confident AD Carry player with a deep and versatile champion pool, he has played eight different Champions in ten games for SK Prime this split—including two on Twitch, one on Sett, and one on Karthus.
SK Gaming isn’t doing well in the LEC this summer, as they sit tied in last place with one win and four losses. SK’s sole win was against the struggling BDS, who somehow beat G2 Esports in Week 2.
Jezu’s condition adds to SK’s health issues, with Janik “JNX” Bartels testing positive for COVID-19 last week. Hopefully, SK can take care of their problems and turn around their season despite the undesirable situation that they are facing.
Gadget won’t have an easy task in his LEC debut as SK Gaming takes on Vitality on Friday and Rogue on Saturday.
