Fnatic and G2 Esports will meet during the LEC 2025 roadtrip hosted by KOI. With both teams being favorites to win the entire split, it’s sure to be a close battle.
The LEC Spring is in full blast, with the three favorites to win the whole thing already being established. Karmine Corp, G2 Esports, and Fnatic have already shown why so many expect them to get far this year, but the tournament’s regular season hasn’t been without its surprising upsets.
Now, G2 and Fnatic are slated to meet each other during week five. This match may be close to a coin toss considering both teams have displayed strong skills throughout the tournament, though G2 hasn’t been as consistent as its opposition.
G2 Esports has showcased strong skills and consistent performance against almost every team played. The standout has definitely been SkewMond, who has shown up in every game, regardless of every other member’s performances. Caps and Hans Sama have also had their moments, even if they’ve been less consistent. The two players who have left much to be desired are BrokenBlade and Labrov.
In particular, BrokenBlade has a bad tendency to take unnecessary fights. The player frequently gets too aggressive, resulting in his dying or being forced to recall and giving his enemy a gold advantage. Labrov’s roaming pattern is often too predictable, and the player has gotten caught in unfavorable positions many times in this tournament.
On the other hand, Fnatic has been extremely impressive. Arguably, the biggest shock in the entire tournament has been Fnatic losing to SK Gaming, a team considered one of the worst in the series, but the team came back even stronger from the loss and is now one of the most consistent sides in Europe. The biggest performers to watch in the match will likely be Humanoid and Razork. In particular, Humanoid has shown both amazing and terrible performances recently, and this inconsistency could lead to trouble for Fnatic.
With that being said, Fnatic took down Karmine Corp, which recently came out of the grand finale of the international tournament First Stand. Considering Fnatic beat arguably the strongest team in the LEC and lost to one of the weakest ones, the primary question will likely be which version of Fnatic will show up against G2 Esports.
Below are the rosters for both teams.
G2 Esports:
Fnatic:
Humanoid and Oscarinin may be the two members of Fnatic who experiment the most with champions, but the other three usually stick close to what they know. These picks include Pantheon, Varus, and Rakan. Humanoid may come to the upcoming match with Yone and Taliyah since they seem to be his recent favorites.
As for G2 Esports, the entire team usually sticks to a rather limited champion pool. This pool includes Gnar, Renekton, Dr. Mundo, Maokai, Akali, Hwei, Taliyah, Kai’Sa, Ashe, Varus, Rell, Nautilus, and Alistar, so it’s likely that players will see most or all of these champions against Fnatic.
Fnatic and G2 Esports have played 35 matches against each other before, with G2 Esports taking the win in 23 of them. Fanatic has only gotten the win twelve times, which is less than half of G2’s wins in the long-standing rivalry.
Fnatic is the underdog going into the upcoming match with a line of 2.10. In contrast, G2’s 1.70 betting line cements it as the favorite to win against Fnatic, despite the opposing team’s recent win against KC.
G2 Esports and Fnatic have both established themselves as strong teams in the current LEC split. But G2 has been much more inconsistent. In addition to losing against Team BDS, the team also threw a game against GIANTX, resulting in G2 having fewer overall wins than Fnatic. Ultimately, Fnatic may have the edge thanks to its better and more consistent level of play.
Fnatic is known to take some teams easier than others and go in without specific strategies, as happened against SK Gaming. However, the team has already stated that G2 is one of the only two threats for it in the LEC, suggesting its players will go all-out here.
The match will likely be primarily determined by how both teams roam the map. While G2 has a more predictable roaming strategy that saves the team time, making it susceptible to getting counter-ganked, Fnatic is generally unpredictable.
The biggest weakness for G2 as seen recently is likely BrokenBlade, who has left much to be desired by his play. Hans Sama has also been fairly inconsistent recently, which opens a lot of potential for Fnatic to punish the opposite team as happened with GIANTX versus G2.
