Every match in the upper bracket’s first round didn’t have elimination on the line, but that doesn’t apply to the lower bracket. G2 and FlyQuest will kick off the bottom bracket, with the loser bidding farewell to the tournament. While neither team is a favorite to win MSI, the winning team will get the opportunity to cause an upset later in the lower bracket.
Betting tip: FlyQuest may lack experience relative to G2, but the team’s pure mechanical skills alone may give it more than a fighting chance against the unreliable LEC side.
G2 is one of the strongest European League of Legends teams, but the path to this tournament has been extremely shaky. While SkewMond and Caps stand as two of the only players who consistently perform well regardless of the opposing team’s level, it usually isn’t enough against the world’s best teams. The team’s international experience can’t overcome the gap in skill between G2 and some of the stronger Eastern teams like Gen.G, and that has been clear throughout MSI.
Hans Sama’s performance is hit or miss. While he has carry potential, he isn’t always able to snowball into a proper carry. Much of this is thanks to the team’s support, Labrov, who has left much to be desired recently, as his lack of reliable initiations forces Hans Sama to play passively and occasionally miss out on important CS. BrokenBlade is another player who hasn’t been performing well because of his habit of getting overwhelmed in tight situations.
FlyQuest is also fairly inconsistent. While the team dominated most teams domestically in the LTA, the relative lack of international experience has been obvious in every MSI match. The team opts to make strange decisions both in and out of battle. Whether it’s going for weird drafts like having the team’s ADC pick Ziggs, or just taking unnecessary fights, FlyQuest’s strategy is all over the place.
Speaking of the team’s ADC, Massu is the primary reason for FlyQuest’s success to date. The player’s aggressive plays are carefully calculated, ensuring he’s able to snowball into the carry the team needs. On the other hand, Bwipo, Quad, and Inspired’s unreliable recent performances have held Massu and FlyQuest back from victory. However, when facing a team of equal skill, FlyQuest has been consistently reliable, and that may be enough against G2.

G2 Esports has consistently let fans down with its performances, whether by barely winning against Furia or through losing by a landslide against Gen.G and BLG. While Caps will likely win the lane against FlyQuest’s Quad, the other lanes may struggle against the talented FlyQuest. With FlyQuest having the better performing support in Busio, it has a good chance of winning the match off of a fed ADC.
Our G2 Esports vs FlyQuest prediction: FlyQuest as the match winner 3-2 at 1.76 odds at GG.BET.
