G2 Esports has fallen off when compared to its excellent performance at Masters Bangkok, but it’s still a favorite to get a strong placement in the ongoing 2025 VCT’s second round. This match between G2 and EG is crucial, as the winning team will take a large step toward qualifying for the playoffs.
Betting tip: Evil Geniuses brings a team of highly skilled players, and the absence of leaf on G2’s side may tip the scales enough to help EG take the match win.
G2 Esports may not have the overpowered Tejo meta to utilize anymore, but that doesn’t mean the team is suddenly bad. The side shines with strong players like jawgemo and JonahP who bring their excellent aim to the table. In particular, JonahP’s versatility helps to ensure that G2 has any role in the game covered.
The rest of G2 is proving too inconsistent to rely on. While valyn uses his utility to make his presence known, trent sometimes is completely missing for the team, while he’s found at the top of the leaderboard in other matches. Then there’s BABYBAY, who hasn’t brought nearly as much fragging power as did leaf, the player he’s subbing in for. While the substitute player has the potential, he hasn’t yet had the time to fully settle in with G2 and this was a major factor in the team’s recent VCT loss to Sentinels.

EG hasn’t impressed much since its win in the 2023 Champions tournament. It failed to crack the top three in the last VCT stage and didn’t perform as well as expected in the 2025 Esports World Cup qualifiers. NaturE and icy are EG’s biggest anomalies, as their performances haven’t been up to par recently. Derrek is somewhat inconsistent, but he usually makes up for his lack of frags through utility usage, setting up kills for his teammates instead.
Both yay and supamen are excellent players who give it their all to deliver in each and every match. This often isn’t enough because the rest of their team is outmatched. Evil Geniuses’ silver lining is that G2 Esports isn’t at 100% with the absence of leaf, which will better balance the odds and give EG a real fighting chance.

There’s no doubt that G2’s players are individually skilled. However, the team’s decline in wins has been noticeable, and the absence of one of its stronger players was felt against Sentinels. By contrast, Evil Geniuses has gotten the time to slowly improve, and by utilizing their advantage in teamwork and communication, the team has a good chance of winning against G2 in a match that should go to a third map.
