G2 Esports and Team Vitality will face off on the first day of the Valorant Masters Bangkok 2025 playoffs stage. Vitality may be the favorite going into the match, but smart betters may first want to determine whether G2 Esports has upset potential in the upcoming match.
Valorant Masters Bangkok 2025 has been full of surprises. From Sentinels getting knocked out in the swiss stage to Vitality and EDward Gaming making strong showings, what began as a tournament with eight teams now consists of a final four sides duking it out. With the upper bracket semifinals now here, Team Vitality and G2 Esports will meet on the big stage after EDward Gaming and T1’s bout.
The squad that wins this upcoming match will move on to the upper bracket final while the loser will go down to the lower bracket semifinals for another chance at glory. Although both teams performed well in the swiss stage, G2 Esports has one lost match on its record while Team Vitality remains undefeated, only losing a single map against DRX.
G2 Esports and Team Vitality have had an excellent start to 2025. While G2 dominated the VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff, Vitality did the same with the VCT 2025: EMEA Kickoff, supporting the argument that these two teams are among the best in their respective regions. G2 may have had a more active 2024, but Vitality has been looking extremely strong in 2025.
In particular, Vitality duelist Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev has shown more than impressive gameplay during the Valorant Masters Bangkok swiss stage. Being the first player in VCT history to reach 2,000 total frags, the former Fnatic player has consistently performed well this year. On the other hand, G2’s players have been fairly inconsistent, with no one player necessarily standing out to such a degree.
Below are the rosters for both teams in the upcoming match:
G2 Esports
Team Vitality
G2 Esports has shuffled its agent pool since the tournament first began. While the team’s primary smokers continue to be Brimstone and Astra, and Yoru and Raze are the primary duelist picks, the other roles are less certain. The agent Tejo is the one consistent pick in every match G2 has played recently.
By contrast, there’s no one agent Team Vitality used in all four Valorant Masters Bangkok 2025 games. Raze and Tejo are the most common selections, each having a 75% pick rate by Team Vitality in this tournament. The maps will likely determine the rest of Vitality’s agent lineup.
G2 Esports and Team Vitality have faced off against each other five times in the past. While Vitality won two matches, G2 emerged has victorious on three occasions, giving it the better head-to-head record. However, the two teams last met on the big stage in 2022, and the sides are much different now relative to then.
The two teams are fairly close in terms of overall performance and have a massive following in their respective regions for their skill. The upcoming match’s odds reflect this since even though Vitality is the favorite to win it at 1.75, G2’s 1.95 odds aren’t far behind at all.
Vitality may be the favorite to win the upcoming game, but that doesn’t mean G2 will go down without a fight. EDward Gaming showed a similar performance as Vitality in the playoffs, and while it beat G2, the match concluded with a close 2-1 score. G2 learned from that loss to defeat Team Liquid in a convincing 2-0 sweep. Liquid won the first two maps against Vitality during the VCT 2025: EMEA Kickoff tournament, suggesting Liquid and Vitality aren’t far apart in performance at all.
Much of the best-of-three match will be determined by how G2 counters Derke’s aggressive offensive entries and Vitality’s defensive rounds. Taking full advantage of agent utility on a pick like Tejo may win G2 at least one game, even if Vitality’s recent performance may prove too much for the North American side to win the entire match.
