The VCT 2025: Americas Stage 1 group stage has kicked off, and G2 Esports and FURIA are slated to meet on the second day. While G2 is the favorite to win the upcoming G2 Esports vs FURIA match, smart betters will likely want to know whether there’s any upset potential in the match.
VCT 2025: Americas has finally kicked off, with 12 of the best teams in the region battling for a spot in the upcoming Masters Toronto tournament. The group stage determines which teams make it to the playoffs, and the second day sees G2 Esports and FURIA face off against each other.
G2 Esports displayed a dominating performance in the recent Masters Bangkok tournament and eventually ended up in second place. On the other hand, FURIA has displayed inconsistent performances of late, leading many to believe it may be an easy win for G2.

G2’s 2025 has gone quite well so far. The team first won the VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff before showcasing a great performance against strong teams the likes of EDward Gaming, Team Vitality, and Team Liquid. In particular, G2 players leaf, JonahP, and trent have shown they have the skills to take the squad far in any tournament. This consistency may largely stem from how active the team was in 2024, participating in multiple tournaments last year and getting high-level practice and experience all along the way.
On the other hand, FURIA hasn’t shown much to its fans in a while. The team was fairly inconsistent in 2025 and only finished first in the lesser-known Tixinha Invitational. FURIA failed to perform in VCT 2024: America’s kickoff, stage 1, or stage 2, and the team’s 2025 hasn’t been much better. FURIA was knocked out of the VCT 2025: Americas kickoff after losing to Leviatán and Evil Geniuses.
Below are the rosters for both teams in the upcoming match:
G2 Esports
FURIA
G2 Esports, unlike most other teams, tends to switch around its agent pool, though there are some constants bettors can expect to see. Brimstone and Astra are the team’s favorite smokers while Yoru and Raze frequently get picked to fill the duelist role. However, Tejo is the one agent most fans can likely expect above all others after looking at the team’s performance this year.
FURIA has more frequently used the same agents compared to G2 Esports’ variety of picks. Jett and Raze are the team’s primary duelists, Omen and Brimstone are usually the smokers, and Cypher is the team’s favorite sentinel, though viewers could also see Sage fill the role.

G2 Esports and FURIA have met only once on the big stage, though it was fairly recent. The two had a best-of-three match during the VCT 2024: Americas League Stage 1’s group stage and G2 destroyed FURIA with a final score of 2-0.
G2 Esports is easily the favorite to win the upcoming match with a line of 1.04 compared to FURIA’s even odds of 8.00. This isn’t a surprise considering the performances of both teams in recent tournaments and how it went the last time the two teams faced off.
G2 Esports absolutely demolished FURIA the last time the two teams battled on the VCT stage and there’s no reason to think the same result won’t happen again here. FURIA has showcased inconsistent performances and its members haven’t displayed anything that shows they have the skills to cause an upset versus G2.
On the other hand, G2 Esports has big names like leaf and trent, both of whom have recently shown carry potential. Even if FURIA is able start the first game strong, G2 will likely adapt to the opposition’s playing style as it recently did against EDward Gaming before coming back even stronger. Based on recent performances, G2 Esports may end the match with a decisive score of 2-0, making it the smarter betting pick despite the difference in potential returns.
